{Spotlight Project} Monika Stamps A Collage Background

Hello STAMPlorations Friends! We all know someone who loves a good brew, be it coffee, tea or chocolate. The new Holiday Lattes Digi Stamps are perfect for making Christmas cards our brew loving friends will enjoy.

Here are today's cards ...

I sized, printed and coloured some of the Holiday Lattes images and decided to use the cups with the overlapping florals for my cards. The tags and cup will be finished at a later date.

I felt that the image and word stamps from the Joyful set were great for collage stamping. I picked two of the images, the gift and wreath, and placed them on a base card using one of the coffee cups as a guide. I then stamped my images in Smokey Slate, a light grey. After trying the pink card first, I settled on Riding Hood Red and Rich Razzleberry for some of my base cards. This gave me the effect I was looking for, a patterned background that wouldn't fight with my pencil coloured cups.

Throwing a couple of square cards in the mix, I had to re-arrange my image stamps.

Once my base cards were stamped, I arranged the words in a way that would show parts of the words popping out from behind my images and stamped them in the same grey ink. The layout of the words worked for my square cards too.

All that was left to do was to attach the coffee cups in place, die-cut and add the word Joyful from the Christmas Sentiments Dies Set to finish my cards.

It is always worth trying a different take on a background too, This one uses Butterscotch Prism ink for the wreath and gift. The holographic mirri card sentiment helps balance the design.

The subtle background of the grey stamping on the razzlebrry card helps this very lightly coloured cup to take center stage. The gold sentiment picks up the light gold metallic colouring from my image.

On the red card the background stamping is more visible and, as you can see, it works well with both of the cup images used.

This concludes my little tutorial. Have a lovely day!
