Do you ever think, "Hmm, my card needs some texture"? Well, today I am going to give you an idea that I love to do -- use tissue paper!
Here is my finished card:
To make this card, you need the following supplies:
- stamps (Holiday Sketches: Christmas Bells, Vignette: Christmas Block, Sentiment Builders: Christmas & New Year)
- playing card
- tissue paper
- gesso
- inks
STEP 1
Cover a playing card with gesso. [I did 2 coats to cover seeing the card; my sample only has one layer.]
STEP 2
Place scrunched tissue paper over the card. Lay it down with the creases and let dry.
STEP 3
Spray with ink spray [I used green and yellow]; let dry.
STEP 4
Stamp with Vignette: Christmas Block using both the block and the snowflakes images.
STEP 5
Stamp, color, and cut out the bells from Holiday Sketches: Christmas Bells. Attach to card.
Stamp the word "Christmas" from Sentiment Builder: Christmas & New Year, on a piece of card stock, cut out, and adhere to card; stamp the word "Merry" on the tissue covered playing card.
STEP 7
Attach mounting tape, pop dots, or whatever you use for dimension, to the back. Adhere to your card base, and the card is ready for mailing at Christmas time.

ReplyDeleteVicki, I love that you used a playing card for this fabulous technique! Some local friends and I have just started a monthly ATC exchange and we are going to use playing cards as our substrate for them.

ReplyDeleteI loved the texture with tissue and vicki's trademark "vibrant colors" :).
ReplyDeleteLove the vibrant colours. I would have stamped the tissue paper first and then stuck it down, although make sure your ink won't bleed with the wet glue LOL Hugz
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card, Vicki! Love how you used gesso and tissue on your playing card. The inks and stamping look super. I will definitely try your technique. TFS it today! :)
ReplyDeleteBright, festive, fabulous!
ReplyDeleteG'Day. Love using tissue paper for texture, I use it most times for creating texture on my canvas projects, but never thought to try it on cards. Must try this, very cool, love texture especially on cards, canvas and crochet projects. Thanks so much for sharing. I love your colours, cool. Cheers :)
