{Spotlight Project} Shirley's Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky

Hi guys! Today's card was inspired by the painting "Two Black Spots" by Wassily Kandinsky.

Russian-born Kandinsky is considered by many to be the originator of abstract art. He analysed every shape and colour, linking them to music, even calling his later artworks "compositions". My analysis of Two Black Spots was "I can't see two black spots but I like it", then I turned it 90 degrees which probably changes the whole meaning of the composition! So just lean your head over to the left and you'll get an idea of what his painting looked like.

I started by stamping the various shapes, and painted a blue wash across the centre of the panel. Then I drew two black lines intersecting the shapes and infilled the area with a Black Posca pen. I added some red Dotta-Riffic dots, some black lines, and some fine black dots and white highlighting on some of the shapes.

I turned the image by 90 degrees so that I could have the sentiment running along the black stripe. I stamped the 'happy' in red to unify the small red elements, and 'birthday' in black to unify the black elements, then mounted the panel onto a black card.
