Hi, guys! Got your sunglasses at the ready? Today I'm inspired by Pop Art. I'm intrigued by how bright blocks of colour are used to represent shape and form, light and shade, without the use of grey or black. When you actually look at shadows, they're not grey or black anyway but darker shades of complementary colours.
I stamped The Bee's Knees CityGirl in Antique Linen Distress Ink, which is great as a neutral base when you don't want a black outline. Then I grabbed the brightest colours from my collection of Tombow markers and started adding marks and blocks of colour on the image (I've got to admit, a bit randomly, and probably not in the right places, but hey, I enjoyed it!).
I criss-crossed some black lines, outlined CityGirl in black where she intersected the top-to-bottom line, and coloured in some of the background blocks. Then I decided that I would add text in one of the blocks, so I reached for my favourite text set, Hashtag Authentic, and masked off one section so that I could fill it with stamped text.
Here's another look at the finished card.
That's the last of my Inspired By series for now, I hope you've enjoyed it, and I hope it's inspired you to think how you can bring different art styles to your own work.
