Hello, STAMPlorations friends! I'm back with another spotlight project and the cards I made today are for an awesome cause! Today, April 2, is World Autism Awareness Day. STAMPlorations girl Tenia Nelson together with Veronica Fletcher Zalis have teamed up for the super special Light It Up Blue for Autism Awareness blog hop.
If you'd like to support the hop and spread autism awareness, we invite you to create a card (or any project) that is blue. It can be for any occasion. Link up your creations here or here. The linky is open until Sunday, April 5.
Hosts Tenia and Veronica have lined up many sponsors, including STAMPlorations, for this special event. For a chance to win a sponsor prize, visit and comment on the participating blogs in the Light It Up Blue for Autism Awareness blog hop linky.
For this special hop, STAMPlorations is giving away 2 prizes: one winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to the shop and the other winner will receive the Trendy Butterflies stamp set and the coordinating Shower of Flutters stencil/mask. Tenia and Veronica will be randomly choosing the winners and announce them on Monday, April 6.
Here are the cards I made for the hop:
For this trio of blue one layer cards, I test drove the ARTplorations Shower of Flutters, a stencil/mask that I designed early this morning. I'd been thinking of what I'd make for the hop and as I was waking up, "a shower of blue butterflies" came to mind. Ideas often come to me when I least expect them so before I could even make breakfast for DH and me, I fired up Photoshop and started designing the stencil/mask.
I thought to make another coordinating stencil, so this one coordinates with the stamps in the Trendy Butterflies set. (Yup, expect to see a lot more stamps and stencils that coordinate in the future!) A half hour later, I was ready to cut a prototype and test it out. Anyway, there's a nice little back story for you and a little insight to how I go about developing products :o)
I brayered a couple of blue acrylic paints on my Gelli plate and placed the stencil/mask over it. I placed card #1 here for the first print. Then I removed the stencil/mask and placed card #2 on the Gelli plate for the second print.
Here's the reverse side of the stencil/mask with blue paint on it. I laid card #3 on it to get the third print.
Here are the 3 prints I pulled. The one on the left is print #1, middle is print #2, and right is print #3.
I stamped the Trendy Butterflies onto the cards:
card #1
card #2
card #3
For card #1, I added a little bit of mixed media grunge to the background by stamping with white ink.
I finished up the cards by stamping the sentiments.
Card #1: You Are Awesome (sentiment from Hashtag Authentic)
Card #2: Just A Little Something For You (sentiment from Fond Expressions)
Card #3: Remember the Good Times (sentiment from Noteworthy)
Products Shery used in today's project:
Mixed Media Grunge (April/May 2015) is one of the 5" by 7" sets we offer through the STAMPlorations stamp club. We've got lots of perks, including a free 4" by 6" stamp set like Trendy Butterflies sent every 3rd shipment (or immediately after signing up for the semi-annual subscription) and choice of 2 ARTplorations stencils ($10 value) in every stamp club package mailed out to subscribers! For more info and to join the club, click here.
Prize alert! Leave a comment in this post for an entry to our Spotlight Projects random drawing for April. We'll pick TWO (2) commenters to each win a $10 gift certificate or their choice of 1 ARTplorations stencil. We'll announce the winners on May 1!
