Hey, STAMPlorations friends! Here today to share with you a one layer mixed media card with a shabby chic/vintage look. I used a fun watermark reverse resist technique using a stencil/mask that coordinates with one of our stamp sets. Here's the card:
Here's how I put the card together:
STEP 1
I stamped the daisy in black archival ink.
STEP 2
Then I masked the daisy. I also masked the area I want to keep white for my sentiment. Next, I applied Versamark ink all over the floral mania stencil/mask. This stencil/mask coordinates with the Eclectic Florals stamp set. I placed the stencil mask on the card base, covered it with scrap paper and then brayered over it.
STEP 3
I applied magenta and turquoise PanPastels. (It's supposed to be turquoise but because I'd used a sponge I previously used for green PanPastels, the resulting color looked more like moss green.) You can see the areas where the watermark ink transferred are darker (the reverse resist). You can also use Perfect Pearls or Distress inks if you don't have PanPastel.
STEP 4
I added black PanPastel for shadow and to give the card a faux dimension.
STEP 5
Next, I stamped the flowers from the Eclectic Florals set in coffee archival ink.
STEP 6
I removed the masks then watercolored the daisy.
STEP 7
Last, I finished the card by stamping the sentiment. I also drew a border using a Japanese watercolor brush pen and stamped some mixed media grunge elements in coffee archival ink to create faux texture.
Here's the finished card again:
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! See you in a couple of weeks :o)

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Shery! I was wondering if you sealed the Pan Pastels, and if so, what you used.
ReplyDeleteYes, I sealed the PanPastels -- I used Krylon Fixatif. I've also used
