{Spotlight Project} Shirley Makes a Negative Butterfly

Here's a project that shows how to make the most of your die-cuts!

When you die-cut a shape, don't throw away the negative because you can make a pretty card from it.  Cut a piece of watercolour paper to fit a card, position the die on the paper and cut, and you'll have a positive diecut for one project, and a negative diecut for another project.

I placed the negative on my card and lightly drew around the inside of the butterfly.

Then using stamps from the Mixed Media Grunge set, I stamped inside the pencilled area, starting with the body, then the wings, then the antennae.



You can lay the negative back over the base card to check for any gaps before adhering.

Then I picked up some Distress Inks off my craft mat with a very wet brush and sloshed them around the outside of the butterfly negative, and added some splatters. Lastly, I added a sentiment from Noteworthy and adhered the negative to my card base.
