{Spotlight Project} Shirley Drips Distress Inks

Hi there! Today I'm playing with the new stamp club set, Floral Bliss. I decided to see if I could create a drip effect as if all the colour was running out of the flower.


I stamped the helenium onto mixed media card, smoothed some Distress Ink minis onto an acrylic block, and gave the background area a very faint wash of Iced Spruce. Then I added Wild Honey to the flower centre, and several blobs onto the edges of some petals, stood the card up and kept tapping it on the table to force the ink to drip down.


I did the same thing with the Aged Mahogany, then decided the drips were too harsh, so I shielded the flower and misted the drips.


I stamped the sentiment from Fond Expressions 2, and added some splatters of both colours - couldn't stop myself. I mounted the panel onto maroon textured card - here's another look.



While I still had all the inks on the block, I made another version, this time wetting the paper under the flower before dropping in the colours.


This gives a much more subtle blending of the colours. I added a sentiment from Fond Expressions 2, and managed to refrain from splattering on this one. Mounted it onto yellow card, and it's done.
