{Spotlight Project} Becca Distress Paints the Town

Sometimes in life you need to let the colors fly. I was looking around my (mess of a) craft room the other day and spotted my much neglected Distress Paints and decided that I was going to play. I'll take you through the steps of this very messy but very fun card!

Step One: Give it a Spray

The background is a full on explosion of vibrant color and it started with a lil' ol' spritz of water. 

Step Two: Give it a Spray & a Dab

I used Picked Raspberry Distress Spray Stain and Mustard Seed Distress Paint on the wet paper and twisted it all around to let the colors seep together. 

Step Three: Stencil with Some Citron

Twisted Citron Distress Paint is a vibrant, lovely green and I dabbed it through the ARTplorations: Tribal Weave stencil. 

 

As you can see in the first picture, I'm working on two backgrounds simultaneously. Because I'm a user - not a waster - I popped the second background directly on top of the painted up side of the stencil before I washed it. This way I got the reverse print. 

Step Four: Texture is your Friend

I used a glossy black Dreamweaver embossing paste through the ARTPlorations: Dots all Over stencil. 

Step 5: Make some Foliage & Flowers

I used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Paint on some watercolor paper then stamped over it with a scripty scrawly text from the Mixed Media Elements stamp set. 

Then, once it was all pretty-like I used some leafy die cuts to make some foliage.

Then I spritzed some white flowers with various colors of Distress Sprays. 

Step Six: Stamp & Glitter

I stamped the butterfly from Blossom Like a Butterfly set and colored it with my most vibrant Spectrum Noir marker before stamping and then glitzing it up with some Wink of Stella. 

I made a sentiment using the Sketchy Alphabet set and a word from the Bloom Sketches set.

And then I started gluing, gluing, gluing to put the whole neon rainbow together!

Love the way these turned out!
