{Spotlight Project} Maria Plays with Scissors

Do you like one layer cards but you're looking for a way to spice them up a little? Maybe you'll like what I did with today's card using stamps and scissors.  You can check out this similar design I created using a die cut negative and scissors.

STEP 1
Gathered my supplies - white cardstock, Gone Postal, inks in blue and purple tones and scissors.

STEP 2
Planned out where my butterflies would be along the bottom to ensure that the edge, when "fussy cut", would still stand.

STEP 3
Because I wanted to stamp two-tone butterflies, I adhered my stamp carefully to an acrylic block with lines. This was I could use the horizontal line to gauge where to ink up the stamp. I lined up the line on the acrylic block with the edge of the stamp pad.

 STEP 4
I stamped off onto some masking paper. Fussy cut three of these to use as masks before stamping further.

STEP 5
Continued building up my rabble of butterflies, concentrating on the right side of the card.

STEP 6
When done stamping, I spritzed the card front with my favorite Perfect Pearls water mixture. Love how the images softened up and ran a bit. And oh that shimmer!

STEP 7
Searched my sentiments for one that would nestle into the little space between the top butterflies. Also wanted it to have an artsy font. This one is from Trendy Feathers 2. I used Archival Ink since there was Perfect Pearls in the area and I wanted to be sure the sentiment stamped well. Archival ink stamps pretty much onto anything!

STEP 8
The last step was to cut along the butterflies at the bottom to add some interest to the one layer card.

Here's the finished card again.

Have I inspired you to give your one layer card a scissor-trimmed edge?
