Have you seen the Christmas Reindeer set designed by Shirley? Well when I was designing this card for the recent hop, it dawned on me that those wonderful flying reindeer could make great cows jumping over the moon. As in, "hey diddle diddle..."
Meet today's card.
So I gathered my supplies - cardbase, Christmas Reindeer, Wilted Violet, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Inks, texture paste and Hello and Company stencil.
STEP 2
I roughly laid out where the cow and the "hey" would be to decide how tall to make my inked panel. Marked with a pencil then cut it down to size.

STEP 2
I roughly laid out where the cow and the "hey" would be to decide how tall to make my inked panel. Marked with a pencil then cut it down to size.
STEP 3
I inked my panel - first with purple, then blue, then black. When it starts to turn into one big inky mess, I rest my left hand on a piece of scrap paper on top of the wet ink while inking with my right.
I splattered the panel with some water. Then I chose the best circle size for my moon in relation to the cow and die cut it from white CS.
Next up was the moon. Saw this great technique at Kara's blog. Dabbed some Black Soot onto my craft mat and spritzed it and the white circle. Then I crumpled it up and dabbed it in the ink. Uncrumpled it and dabbed up a bit more ink before spraying it with Perfect Pearls mixture for some great shimmer. Isn't that an amazing moon?
STEP 6
Next? The cow. Inked up the reindeer and wiped off the ink from most of the antlers with a piece of toilet paper before stamping.
STEP 7
STEP 7
Then I taped down the stencil, being sure to mask off the neighboring words with scrap paper, and applied my texture paste.
STEP 8
The next step was to give the cow some spots. Used my tiniest paintbrush and black watercolor.
STEP 9
My last step was to splatter some watered down white acrylic paint from my acrylic block onto the inked panel, creating some planets and stars.
