Ho Ho HO! It's Becca here for the Spotlight Post. I've made my list and I've checked it twice and now I'm about to tell you what's on it - or at least how to make this card. :)
Before I get started, I want to give a special shoutout to a challenge floating in the web - Jingle Belles is having their annual pink Christmas card challenge and they are donating $4 for breast cancer research for EVERY card linked up. It closes tomorrow - so maybe you could whip something up?
Anywho - back to my tutorial!
Step one is to stamp the stocking from the Joyful set.
What? Your stamps don't automatically fill in with polka dots?
Oh yeah... I created a mask for it, too.
After I masked my image, I sponged around it with two shades of pink Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry). I started with the darker pink and then went over the edges with the lighter shade.
Then I put the Holiday Words ARTPlorations stencil over the top of the sponging and applied a wet paper towel to pick up some of the color.
Here's what it looks like when you let it sit for a little bit. It makes really cool variegation in the saturated color of the background and adds a touch of visual interest.
Next I used the sentiment from the same stamp set and inked it up all over the background.
Tadaaaa! I finished off the look with a little sentiment sticker and colored up a some bits of the stocking with the pink to tie the whole look together.
I'm dreaming of a pink Christmas!
If my card has inspired you in some way and you try out one of the techniques showcased, make sure you link it up to the Spotlight Gallery for your chance to win some fun fun prizes!
Super cute. Love the pink.
ReplyDeleteLove that ghosting technique effect! I'm going to have to try that! Cute stocking stamp!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie - love the way the masking works - it always amazes me the effects you can get, and the instant transformation of a card when the mask(s) are removed.
