Hi, Cornelia here today. I made an Advent calendar for my daughter and thought I share it with you.
Now to warn you - this was a fair amount of work. It took me all afternoon. but I had fun and I like how it turned out. I saw a calendar like this by Julie Ebersole last year and always wanted to make one. She has a video on YouTube that you can watch, too.
Julie made a template to position the dies evenly on your card stock. I printed it out (here is her link) and taped it onto my card stock. Since I only have a regular Big Shot I cut my card stock panel with the template attached into quarters.
I die cut my windows.
That is the backside - I used Kraft.
I printed the template a second time onto white card stock
and made myself a mask for staying inside my windows using a punch that is slightly larger than the window, as you always lose some of your stamp next to the mask.
Stamped my images and some sentiments inside the little squares until every square was filled.
Colored them in
and added Stickles to some of the images.
While the Stickles were drying I started to work on the Kraft panel. Cut off little corners from the windows to make them easier to open. I also marked where I would stamp the numbers with a fine pencil line.
Stamped the numbers and some images on the front panel and heat embossed in white. Lastly I glued everything together and matted the calendar onto a piece of red card stock. The reason was, that I colored my images with Copics and the color bleed through and it simply looks ugly from the back.
I also added a twine, reinforced the hole with a white circle.
Do you like Advent calendars? I sure do and my children always get one. It's an old German tradition.
Enjoy the time before the holidays!
