Good afternoon Crafty friends, I'm here today to share a little tag I made using Black Gesso and Metallic Paints. I love how metallic paints look on black gesso...can create some pretty striking definition and textures. :o)
Start with a tag cut from Strathmore Mixed Media Paper. Apply texure paste thru JUST FLOW ARTplorations stencil and let dry completely.
Cover the entire tag with black gesso and again, let dry completely.
Emboss hearts from the TWO OF US Stamp Set and small circle from the ART MARKS Stamp Set with metallic embossing powder. I used Champagne EP from Recollections here.
Set the tag aside and let's work on embellishments for our tag. Cut out 4 of the SMILE WORD DIE CUTplorations from black cardstock. Glue them all together to create a thicker dimensional word die cut.
Get flowers for your tag that have both dimension and are different sizes and cover with a layer of black gesso. Also, you can use other die cuts, metal embellishments, chipboards etc...to embellish your tag. Just add black gesso :o)
Grab your tag and dry brush some metallic paint onto your tag. This will act as our base layer. It's important to dry brush the metallic paints on so you don't get a collection of color, rather you're highlighting your tag with color but the black gesso is still in the background. I dip my brush lightly into the paint and brush off onto paper towel, then apply the color onto my tag. :o)
Splatter some white paint or pigmented spray like the White Dylusions used here and let dry completely.
Now to the fun part, adhere your embellishments down as desired and dry brush the metallic paints to highlight and add color/dimension. The Smile die cut is still the focal point, but now it's showcased with the flowers and highlighted with pretty metallic color.
There you have it, a fun lil' tag with gorgeous texture and colors. :o)
Happy Craftin'!
Hugs, Amy
