{Spotlight Project} Shirley Makes A Mixed Media Card

I haven't made a mixed media card in a while, I've been so engrossed in sloshing Distress Inks around, so I thought it was about time I rectified the situation with a 5x7 card.

I found a panel of mixed media card that I'd stencilled with clear embossing paste, so I sponged it with Distress Oxides, then spritzed it lightly with water.

I inked the silhouette birds from For The Birds with red and brown Distress Inks to look like robins, although you'd never see three robins together, they're solitary and very territorial.

I used a grunge stamp from Scribbly Splattery Grunge for the grasses then I stamped the poppy cluster from Bloom Sketches in Mowed Lawn. I added a few more grasses using the leaf stamp from Trendy Spring Blooms.

I used a water brush to bleach out the background colour of the flowers, but I didn't like the effect, so I added more colour instead.

This was going to be a 40th birthday card, so I needed some numbers. I sponged and spritzed with Distress Inks over a panel and stamped over with Mixed Media Grunge and Scribbly Splattery Grunge, then cut numbers using the CUTplorations Numbers Plate Die.

Raiding my stash again, I found a stamped bird, and dipped him in Distress Inks, then dipped a die-cut Birthday in the remaining Distress Ink puddle.
