Hello Crafty Friends! Today I'm going all festive showing you how to decorate a plain cream pillar candle with golden tissue paper, the Trees 1 stencil from the new Sanna Lippert Designs range and the large Christmas Typografia stamp Peace Love And Joy.
This is quite a quick project to make and would be great for last minute gifts or decorations. Here is how I made it:
Cut a piece of tissue paper and stamp the sentiment in black Versafine ink. TIP!: I didn't worry about the fold as I knew it would be smoothed out later in the process.
Add some trees using a sparkly black Gelli Roll pen and allow to dry.
Cut the decorated tissue paper to size and tear the upper edge. It can help to slightly dampen the paper with a wet brush.
Next you need your heat tool and a piece of wax paper to 'melt' the decorated tissue paper into the candle surface. TIP!: You can make your own wax paper by simply rubbing the bottom of your candle over a piece of grease proof paper.
Place your tissue paper around the candle, a touch of glue stick can help to keep it in place, and firmly wrap and hold with the wax paper whilst heating with your heat tool.
It is quite easy to spot when the tissue paper has melted into the candle surface as you can see from the photo below. I did it in stages working my way around the candle until all of the tissue paper had melted into the candle.
I then finished off with some Stickles and little red stars.
That's it from me for today. Hope you feel inspired to have a playful time and create your own mixed media project. If you do, why not link it up with our December Mixed Media Challenge which started yesterday and will run until the end of this month. The Mixed Media Challenge is always Anything But A Card Goes + Use a Stencil, I look forward to seeing you there.
Have a lovely week!
