Hello everyone, it´s Sanna here today again with another mixed media tutorial share! Are you ready for the weekend and some creative time? I am! I love creating pages for my art journal lately, so I am always very much looking forward to weekend and crafty time. Today I´d like to share another art journal page with a motivational quote with you.
Here it is:
played with my stencils again and this time, instead of using spray inks to create the background, I used Distress Paints. I love how they also react with water and create lovely blendings onto the background.
After creating the first layer, I went and added paint directly to the stencil, then pressed the stencil onto the page to make "letterpress" patterns on top the first layer. Also I saved all the residue ink from the kraft sheet and the stencils by wiping and dabbing it onto a spare sheet of white cardstock. I always keep one around for paint residues like this. These random pieces can be added as bits or as a background to a future project.
Next I placed the stencil onto the page and dabbed some pink paint thru the flower stencil directly onto the page, creating flowers. I also started with the lightest tones of paint and gradually added darker shades to create more depth and contrast.
One of the stencil got used as a doodling guide to create the leaf patterns here and there. Then I just simply colored (very randomly) them with a darker green tone of paint and a water tank brush.
In the end I added several tones of spray inks as splatters onto the page and also drew some additional patterns with paint pens here and there.
Finally, all I needed to do, was to add the quote. I just first made sure the paint layers were all dry. Otherwise I´d ruin my pen with the wet paint. If you have tried to write on wet paint once or twice, you learn to be patient :-).
I've again, recorded a start-to-finish for you to watch!
Hope you enjoy the video!
