Hi peeps, this week I'm playing with rainbows. I made a couple of cards (one of which was my Inspiration post yesterday, and the other you'll see on my blog tomorrow), then decided to make a couple of ATCs using the same technique.
I kept them quite CAS because I wanted the colours to really jump off the card. So, I gathered my rainbow of Distress minis, two pieces of card cut to ATC size (3.5 x 2.5 inches) and an oblong acrylic block approximately 1.5 x 2 inches).
Using the edge of the ink pads I dabbed the colour onto the block.
Spritzed lightly with water.
Turned it over and pressed onto my ATC.
The longer you leave it in place, the more ink will soak into the card. I used my normal cardstock (Ink Me by Hunkydory). As you lift the block, some of the ink slurps back, so you can play about with the amount of colour that you'll get on the card.
There's enough ink left on the acrylic block to get a second print on the second ATC. Just give it a very light spritzing if necessary.
Even after the second inking, there's still a little bit of ink left on the block, which is convenient because it will help to disguise the splashes of colour that you get as you press the block onto the card.
Spritz it very lightly, and wipe away any water drops that didn't catch any of the ink, then lightly press onto the card outside of the colour block. You'll be able to do this a couple of times, maybe spritzing one more time to get the last drops of colour.
I added word blocks from the Artful Expressions STAMP club set for August, offsetting the text on one of the ATCS for a bit of artsy interest.
But then I thought they might make nice card toppers.
What do you think?
Don't forget to check my blog for those other cards.

TFS your acrylic block stamping techniques with your very helpful photos, Shirley. I love them as ATC that you can use for finished Cards. I have done this watercolor technique, but not done a 2nd or 3rd generation stamping...very artsy looking. Love your over the edge splatters and rainbow colors too. TFS and always inspiring me, my friend. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful acrylic stampings and designs on them. I have not done that method of a background in ages. I must revisit it soon as these are so cool!
