Hello peeps! I've been playing with the fabulous new STAMP club set, Bloom Doodles, together with some smooshed card, to create a card using an analogous colour scheme (three to five colours adjacent on the colour wheel).
I started off by gathering a few smooshed card panels, and challenged myself to use the one I liked the least, and therefore thought would be the hardest to work with, which was the pink and blue one.
I chose my flower then stamped and masked till I had three flowers.
Added a few leaves...
...and started to colour. I chose the Tombow pens that were nearest to the colours on the card panel so that they would easily blend with the existing colours on the card. The idea is to enhance the colour scheme rather than fight it.
I used a fine-tipped white Posca paint pen to add white dots to some of the petals, and a light grey around the outsides of all the flowers and leaves for shadow.
I decided I didn't like the image grouping as it was - those leaves look like horns - so I flipped the card and added a sentiment - much better!
Go and check out the new stamp set, there's so much scope for creating your own floral masterpieces with it. And if you're shopping, don't forget to use my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY for 20% off all stamps, stencils and dies in the store. Happy stamping!
So artsy and so creative. Love how you did the background and the enhancing of those flowers. Great inspiration, thank you x.
ReplyDeleteLove this creative background for the flowers! These blooms are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI loved your color wheel tips for your beautiful background, added white dots and how you flipped your image. TFS and always inspiring us, Shirley. Hugs...
ReplyDeleteLovely card - I always forget about outlining with pale grey, and it does make such a difference
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful result - that would have been my favourite colour combination!

Your card turned out great! I agree with you that the bouquet needed to be flipped. I have to give this a try. Lots of panes to choose from. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Jo x
