Hello peeps! I was looking at the current STAMP club set, Bloom Doodles, to see how the images could be used beyond the obvious floral theme. I decided to focus on the leaves and sprigs to make a wreath.
I stamped the small and large leaves several times in Peeled Paint Distress Ink, and added a touch of Mowed Lawn to the watercolouring.
On my card base I drew a pencil circle using the nearest suitable object as a guide ;)
Then I stamped the sprigs in Mowed Lawn, and added some Peeled Paint watercolouring.
Once I had the cut out leaves arranged around the wreath I used a dot of glue to secure each leaf in place.
Then all that was needed was to add some berries in the form of self-adhesive gems and a die-cut sentiment.
While I was looking at the images, something else caught my eye.
Candle flame, anyone? The one on the right, there. I cut some strips of patterned paper for candles and started at the bottom with my sentiment.
After adhering my candles, it didn't really leave me a lot of room to stamp the flames and they ended up a bit too high. I liked the graphic effect of uncoloured flames, but in order to stop the eye from travelling up to the top of the card, I added some yellow to the bottom half of the flames.
And there you have it, a bright and bold, quick and easy birthday card.
I hope this encourages you to take a second look at some of your stamp sets and think outside the box with them. When you're shopping in the STAMPlorations store, don't forget to use my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY for 20% off all stamps (except new releases and retiring), stencils and dies.
Happy stamping!
Both works of art turned out lovely - like those candles and the added leaves to the wreath -- fab work! TFS
ReplyDeleteSuch clever card designs, Shirley mixing and matching images from 2 stamp sets and a die cut sentiment. Beautiful wreath with or without the colored and fussy cut leaves. Loved your clever use of the leaf in the 2nd card as a flame and designer paper for your candle. BTW, the bit of yellow on your flames worked...I did not even notice that the flames were a bit high...cool! TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy
