Hello creative souls! I'm here to show you how I made this tag with combination of just whatever I can grab in my stash. You can too! Take a peek at my blog for up close pictures of this creation.
Let me now take you to my tutorial.
I used acid free white drawing card stock to cut into the pretty slim body shape tag using Luggage Tags Nesting Dies.
I used black gel pen to create a background of pattern by doodling through Layered Petals stencil and color it up with aqua brush. This is the same technique I used in my previous tutorial.
Once completed, I sealed the surface with clear sealer so the black ink and water stay permanent.
The sealer is quick dry allowing me to proceed with coloring process. I used DecoArt colors to brighten the tag up with soft pastel look.
Next, I distress the edge with distress ink. I can't do without distressing because I always feel it makes my project quite complete. What about you?
I decided to highlight the center part with plain white paint using my finger tip because that will be my focal point for embellishment and sentiment.
For the butterfly, I used Flutter Zen 1 Layering Dies cut over a piece of sandpaper. Life Is Good Phrase Die was used over a piece of black felt using Sizzix Big Shot.
Reason I used sandpaper is the texture is original of course and I leave my sandy butterfly as is without extra decoration leaving it natural. I find both sandpaper and felt so awesomely perfect for cutting into shapes using CUTplorations metal dies.
Here is the finished tag once again.
I sincerely hope you will find this step by step tutorial interesting and helpful. Give me a shout out if/when you try my tutorial (smile). Head over to the STAMPloration shop for the products I used. There's more to find there. STAMPGIRLASMAH will give you 20% discount at check out. Check it out.
I shall be back again next month with another mixed media tutorial. Happy creating and enjoy life.
