{Spotlight Project} Monika Makes Glitter Shaker Cards

Hello STAMPlorations Friends! When I first saw the Gratitude Trees Layering Dies and Basic A2 Panels Nesting Dies, I felt they were perfect for making shaker cards. The original idea was to make the second one down, the one with the single tree, but once started the project just expanded.

I had forgotten that acetate can be difficult to photograph, if one wants a photo without the reflection of the camera. Changing the angle seemed to help.

Back to my cards ... I didn't want to drown out the delicate trees or the skinny sentiments yet still have a bold shaker panel. Glitter seemed to be a good alternative to sequins, low static one seems to be best. This was going to be interesting given that I got a bit of a glitter phobia unless it's contained in Stickles.

Here are the dies I used plus the little Hello sentiment which I added later.

I cut two panels the same size of my folded base card and die-cut the largest rectangle from the first one. From a spare piece of white card I die-cut the tree and and the So Grateful sentiment twice and layered them up.

This is the layout I was aiming for with my second card and started by cutting the smallest rectangle from the second piece of white card.

Using the middle and the smallest dies, I cut a frame from a piece of pink card and the shadow of the Celebrate Big sentiment from the inner off cut and the skinny sentiment itself from a spare piece of white card.

Whenever I die-cut a rectangle, I align it slightly angled in my cutting sandwich. This helps it to cut more easily with less effort.

My third piece of card was slightly smaller than my folded base card. I die-cut my tree three times from it plus 3 additional trees from a spare piece of white card before layering the trees.

Normally I tend to attach my spongy tape to the acetate, but I wanted to have a very neat pocket this time and decided to use the piece from the window as a guide and attach it to my base card. That way I could but my tape up to it and get a good seal.

This step is best done before attaching your acetate when you can use the topper as a guide to help align the piece from the window.

After attaching both my window pieces, I cut some acetate to size and layered my card fronts.

Starting with the Celebrate Big card, I added my tape, removed the backing strip and added a bit of glue to the tape. This should give me a bit of movement to correct a slight wonkiness, just in case.

I then added some glitter and my card topper.

The So Grateful card was assembled in the same way. For the one with the 3 trees, I attached the tape to the acetate and put the glitter on my base card.
