{Christmas In The Air} Christmas Inspiration By Nancy And Monika

Happy Wednesday, STAMPlorations friends! Crafting is keeping us all sane right now. Should you be looking for some festive inspiration, our Christmas in the Air blog feature with STAMPgirls Nancy and Monika will hopefully get your creative mojo going.

Nancy's Christmas Cards

My teamie, Monika and I are sharing our May Christmas in the Air Feature Projects.

I used the Christmas Icons "Christmas Tree #2" Die.

I made a shaker card, which I had not done in years...so fun! I took extra photos to share my steps.

The 1st step was to make a Brushos and Bisters watercolor background on Strathmore Mixed Media watercolor paper.

Sprinkled Leaf Green and Emerald Green Brushos and Green Bisters on paper and spritzed with water to activate the pigment crystals.

Next I used the Christmas Tree die to cut out a tree from the background.

Then used the ATC Tag Builder Die to die cut around the die cut tree.

Notice the little stack of pieces to be used later.

Now for the shaker steps!

I die cut a piece of Acrylic Sheet using ATC die. Attached sheet to back and added dimensionals.

Mixed a bit of 2 Shaker Blends: White Frost and Sparkly Greens sequins.

Carefully poured into shaker tree. Attached another ATC die cut layer.

To finish the shaker card I placed card front in MISTI and stamped sentiment from "Trendy Christmas Trees".

I saved the paper towel that I used to wipe up the excess Brushos and Bisters and spritzed liberally with water and then blotted onto card frame and Done!

For my 2nd project...

I made a card using the die cut pieces of the tree that you saw in the 3rd photo above.

First I die cut another tree out of ATC die cut Mixed Media paper  and saved the tiny white pieces.

Added 3M double sided tape to the back of ATC for pieces to stick to. 

Turned over and carefully placed all the tiny tree pieces using Marvy Jewel picker.

Stamped sentiment in MISTI and attached to card front, which I blotted  with ink soaked paper towel like my shaker card.

Could not waste the tiny white pieces so made a 3rd card:-)

Since I had the method down pat I ended up with 2 more Christmas tree cards.

My stash and I are very happy:-)

Monika's Christmas Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! This month I thought I'd expand a bit on what I did for last week's Spotlight Project here. I used the 'off the edge' technique on tent fold rather than a side fold card.

My first card features the Kathryn And Christmas set with a little more complex off the edge cutting. Here it is ... 

Whilst I am always saying it is best to use a stamp one can easily cut around, I couldn't resist turning this cutie into one of today's cards, fussy cutting or not.

When I was positioning and stamping my images, I already had in mind how I might be able to cut around them without having too many loose ends going off the edge.
I like to have a certain stability given that I find it easier to use a lighter weight card for fuzzy cutting. 

I used the lines on my cutting mat to align my card and ruler before cutting with my craft knife through both layers of my card as shown.
I then opened my card up and cut a straight edge off the backing layer using the already cut bit as a guide.

Next I trimmed around my image ...

... before colouring with my metallic pencils and adding the stamped stars to finish.

Next up is a much simpler card using Three Kings ...

Cutting around the kings was certainly easier than on my first card. I simply coloured them with my little eye shadow applicator brushes and inks.

Once the finished card was standing up, it really looked as if the kings were walking off it to come and join me in my craft space.
