Hello STAMPlorations Friends! i'm really loving one-layer cards at the moment. This week I decided to add an 'off the edge' feature to them. Here is my card using Kathryn's Rainbow ...
I started of roughly aligning my stamps along the edges to see how they would work before stamping Kathryn and her umbrella in to place. I left the sentiment until later as sometimes cutting around the edge can change the dynamic of the card and the sentiment might look better in a slightly different place.
TIP!: I find it easiest to have a side rather than a tent fold when making this type of card.
Next I aligned my card with the grid pattern of my cutting mat before aligning my metal ruler and cutting a straight lines between the stamped images. I then used my scissors to connect the little straight lines by cutting around the images.
At this point there is a little choice to make, one can either leave the folded over half of the card as is or trim it back to fit the straight line of the front. I decided on cutting to fit.
Kathryn got coloured in rainbow colours before I finished off with a light grey shadow.
Here is a last look at the finished card ...

Kathryn's Rainbow
so pretty - great design too!
ReplyDeleteHow cute. I like how you tipped the background.
ReplyDeleteSo cute with the rainbow colored umbrella.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool!! It is really fun; it would also be really fun with the backside of the card left to proper size and adding some patterned paper that shows behind the image. Now you've got me thinking! Am pinning this for later.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling card!
ReplyDeleteI like how this turned out I should try it one day....great image for the rainbow theme...thanks for sharing.
