For now you can take inspiration from the cover I made for a little book meant to take the photos of our boat. Here it is:
I used some ready cut chipboard covers, lining paper -the stuff you put on walls is great if you want to go wet as it dries flat-, Mixed Media Elements, True North, Bold Sentiments Journey and Vignette Tree Silhouettes stamp sets plus Artplorations Stencil Some Birds.
I started off using Tempting Turquoise ink, applied it to my craft mat, spritzed and picked the colour up with a piece of lining paper. As it has an off white colour, your ink colour will look a little less vibrant.
Next I traced the outline of my book cover, fuzzy cut and blended the edges using my turquoise ink.
I started building my collage using turquoise ink and stamps from the Mixed Media Elements and Tree Silhouettes without using an acrylic block to mount as I wanted a faded blended in look. My sentiment was stamped with stamps mounted in Concord Crush.
Next I added some texture to the borders using Concord Crush ink a stamp from the Mixed Media Elements set before blending the edges with the same ink, layered on my chipboard cover and softened the edges using a small file. A piece of sandpaper would do too.
To finish I added the boat from the True North set and the birds from the Some Birds stencil. Here is the finished cover:
That's it from me for today. Have a lovely Christmas and a wonderful 2016!

ReplyDeleteI really love this! Very pretty. I love how subtle the boat is. Also, reminds me of my Dad, who always loved boats. He had a small (22 ft) fishing boat that he'd take us out on almost every Sunday when we were kids.
ReplyDeleteWe may get up to 4 inches of rain today. I could use that boat! Lovely make!
ReplyDeletelove the blues you used on this project:)
