Hello Crafty Friends! It's Monika her today showing you how a vague idea turned into these four cards. I had this thing in my mind that I somehow needed to use die-cuts and brusho crystals with the Bloom Doodles set.
I had this thing in my mind that I somehow needed to use die-cuts and brusho crystals with the Bloom Doodles set limiting my colour choices. I decided to work with red and yellow brusho and grey, black and white card and inks. This was going to be interesting.
I started off by die-cutting the solid Butterfly from the Flutter Zen #1 layering dies set.
I then used both die-cuts as masks and sprinkled with red and yellow brusho crystals.
I spritzed lightly with water and allowed them to dry. Of course, the brusho on the craft mat was mopped up with pieces of white card too as they could come in handy later on.
Let's start off with the first card I made using the brusho butterfly to which I added the intricate die-cut layer.
One of my mopped up pieced became the stamped background label.
I simply added an inlaid die-cut sentiment cut from my label and raised by layering two plain white ones in first with my stamped one on top.
As you can see the card came together nicely. All that was need was to finish it off with a red candy dot.
My next card uses the piece of card which was underneath the butterfly when sprinkled with brusho.
I only inked up the flower bit of the sprigs for stamping. The stamps quite easily bend to shape. I decided to outline the butterfly and to create movement by drawing the eye to read the sentiment from the bottom up.
For my next card, I went a little crazy with bold frames.
From a piece of mopped card, I die-cut another butterfly to use as mask and used the magnet from my stamping tool to keep it in place. The magnet was easy enough to move around whilst stamping.
The grey stamped background turned out to be much bolder than anticipated.
I added an outline, stamped sentiment and frames, but something else was needed. The outline got bolder, the white frame went black and some glittery candy dots lifted the butterfly into the spotlight.
The butterfly I used as mask was so pretty, it too had to be turned into a card using some more of the mopped up card as backdrop for the label created when die-cutting the grey frame. I love to use up left-overs.
I leave you with some close-ups of today's cards.
That's it from me for today. If you feel like following a vague idea, creating with brusho crystals and dies or make a project using any of the techniques or ideas shared by my teamies in their Spotlight Posts, make sure to link up your makes with our spotlight project gallery here.
Have a lovely day!
