I did know, however, that on the the seventh day of Christmas seven swans a swimming were given. What fun questions. I'll have to check out your days off thanks hop. Thanks for a chance to win prizes. I have been blessed to win several prizes from various blogs. That is only one of many things to be thankful for and one that's fun but not as important as other blessings.

Answer #2: Seven swans a-swimming.
ReplyDeleteTalk abt a white elephant gift!!! Maybe back then everyone had garden ponds for waterfowl, but I know I would not be ready to receive a gift like this! :) There have been a number of theories as to the origin of the song, but most seem to point to it being a "memory and forfeit" song where each successive player had to remember all the previous items correctly or forfeit a kiss or favor of some kind.

Answer #3: "The Little Drummer Boy" was orinally caled "Carol of the Drum". This song was apparently adapted from a traditional Czech lullaby, which does not really resemble the modern song at all. Maybe the real inspiration is now lost to history.
