Hello crafters, Craftyfield here today. For the next 3 months I will be sharing my favourite Mixed Media techniques here on the STAMPlorations blog. I am starting with a fun and easy one involving crackle paste and powders. Any kind of dye based coloured powders will work, Brushos, Infusions, Color Bursts, Bistres etc...
Start spraying water, a bit at a time to reveal the colors.
I started with the yellows and orange of the petals.
These are all the powders I eventually used on this piece. You will notice that I use a very small paint brush, dry, to apply the powders. I dip the brush in the pot and tap lightly on the handle to spread the dye where I want it. It gives me more control than having the powder sprinkled from a hole in the lid (yes, I'm a control freak!).
I let the card dry overnight under a heavy book to flatten it. To finish my card, I added a sentiment made up of a die-cut and a partially stamped sentiment.
I use a piece of washi tape to cover the areas I don't want to ink before stamping.
The die-cut is the Wonderful word die and the stamp is from the Noteworthy 2 set. I added a few sequins from the White Frost ShakerBlends which shimmer depending on the light's angle.
I hope I have inspired you with this technique, the crackle paste tends to concentrate the colors rather than resist them like most texture pastes and gel mediums.
I have one word for this card.....AWESOME
