Hello peeps! I've been making masterboard backgrounds for my Christmas cards, and I used the
Joy set to create watermarks.
My first masterboard was going to be in reds and greens.
I sponged Distress inks over a piece of card A5 size (EU/UK). Basically, it's two card-front width.
With this technique you don't have to be neat with your sponging (as you can see!) because the colour is going to be lifted and moved around by the next steps.
I used the solid type words from the Joy set, mounted each one onto an acrylic block, and working with one stamp at a time I spritzed it with water, stamped onto the card, waited a few seconds then lifted off. The water 'bleaches' the colour and leaves a ghost imprint, or watermark.
Without cleaning the stamp, I stamped it in a different area of contrasting colour. This transfers any colour that was picked up from the first impression onto the second area.
Using exactly the same process, I made a blue masterboard.
The technique works just as well with a monochromatic scheme.
I cut each panel in half so that I had four card front sized panels. I splattered gold metallic paint over the red and green panels, and silver metallic paint over the blue panels.
A raid of my stash produced these holly leaves and berries from
Layered Holly already coloured (result!) so I just fussy cut them and added a gold diecut from
Christmas Sentiments.
I finished the blue card with a festive sheep from
BaaBaa
and a diecut from Christmas Sentiments layered in black and white.
Two cards finished and two more panels ready to be made into Christmas cards. Time to raid my stash again ;)
