{Spotlight Project} Maria Uses The Spotlight Technique With Ephemera

Hello STAMP friends! How are you enjoying the newest addition to the STAMP family - Paper Goods, specifically Ephemera? I tried the spotlight technique with one of the ATCs for today's post. Let's take a look.

Gather supplies - Cardstock, Ephemera, Bloomfully Thankful and Mini Marks 1 stamp sets, Fluttery die and colored pencils.

Position the die where you want your spotlight and then die cut it. I opted for an unexpected shape (butterfly) and positioned it where I would have mostly clothing to color instead of skin. More on that placement later ;)

Color the die cut piece (here the butterfly). TIP: Place the die cut piece back into the original ATC every once in a while to ensure you're coloring the right things the right way - like the lady's neck and arm!

Notice how my choice of butterfly shape and my placement of the spotlight ends up looking like her boobs. THAT wasn't intentional! I ended up coloring the rest of the butterfly which wasn't a part of the lady gray to define it better. Can you see it in the second photo?

I added a yellow mat to the ATC. The last step was to add a couple art marks. I placed the matted ATC on my cardbase in my MISTI to figure out where to put the marks. Then I picked up the stamps with the MISTI door, removed the ATC and stamped the marks.

I adhered the matted ATC flush on the cardbase and used foam tape to pop up the spotlighted butterfly. I like the little peek of yellow from the mat that shows underneath the spotlight since it's raised.

I hope I've given you another idea for using your ephemera. What shape would you choose for a spotlight? Should you place an order in the shop, I'd love it if you used my STAMPGIRLMARIA code for an additional 20% off.
