We visited a lovely tea room last week, vintage-themed, but fresh and funky at the same time. It inspired me to make a set of tea room styled cards.
You saw the green sundae card on my blog and the STAMPlorations blog yesterday. Here's a little run-through of how I made the macaron card.
On spare white card I stamped the macarons from Sugar Rush and coloured them with the same Distress Inks as the panel, then fussy cut them to fit the arrangement I wanted. On the panel, I stamped a grungy doily using one of the stamps from the Mixed Media Grunge set.
Using a stitched rectangle die, I trimmed the panel. UK card sizes differ from US card sizes, so the stitched rectangle didn't quite fit. I could either trim down my card, or use the white border at the bottom for my sentiment, and I think that worked quite nicely. Here's a close-up of the finished macaron card. The orange card is on my blog, along with a photo of inside the tea room.
Oh how fun are these?! Awesome backgrounds! Love the little bit of grunge. Great stamps used, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great set of cards to box up and give to someone. The colors and designs are so fun. I love that Sugar Rush set!!
ReplyDeleteWow.Yummy set of cards !
ReplyDeleteLove your cards Shirley - and I too have the same problem with the different sizes! I often use a ribbon or washi tape in the 'gap' from the die cuts and or the embossing folders being too small. Other times I just make a smaller card!

ReplyDeleteWow!!, they all are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLoving the idea of stamping around the edge of the stamp only and then this could be used as a resist. Such lovely colours and such a fabulous idea x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous set of cards Shirley. It's so fun to go out to a tea room with the delicious treats and lovely teas ... and these cards really convey that feeling. Great job! xx
