{Spotloght Project} Shirley Creates Comic Strip Cards

Hi peeps!  I've been making a few comic strip cards lately, so I thought I'd show you my process.

Basically, it's creating a card made up of image frames with pictures or words in them, much like they were in the comics you got as a kid.  This pin is what fired my imagination, and I wanted to have a go at creating something similar with The Bee's Knees SmallBirds which you can see in this post. Next came the dresses, in this post and this post.

For today's card I'm using the Country Rustic set (along with a cheeky SmallBird who's checking out the accommodation!).  I started off by stamping the sentiment in the centre of my panel, then added some pencil marks roughly where my frames would be.

I masked off a portion of the panel while I stamped the top two images, deliberately stamping over the edge of the mask.

Then I masked off the lower area while I stamped the bottom two images, again stamping over the edge of the mask.

Here's what it looks like so far.

Then I drew in squiggly frames with a black waterproof pen.

I watercoloured the frames withe Distress Inks then mounted the panel onto my cardstock.

Here's a look at the finished card.

It's a fun and colourful way of mixing and matching your stamps, and if you draw squiggly frames, you don't need to be accurate!
