{Mixed Media Tutorial} Go With All Your Heart Art Journal by Helen

Hello everyone... Helen is here... I don't know about you but I always celebrate "Valentine" all month long! And today I have a heart themed art journal tutorial to share with you all.

On my art journal, I use the similar technique to create my background using things you can find around you. You can watch it on my YouTube video.

I started with a layer of white gesso and made marks using toilet paper roll, coffee sleeve, plastic knife, and old credit card. After that, I dried it completely with craft heater. And then I added some colors on the page using Color Burst Powder and water.

I tilted the page to let the color fill up the page and mixed together and dabbed some extra color off with paper towel. I dried the page one more time with craft heater.

I stamped couple images from the Mixed Media Grunge Stamp Set on the page using Memento Luxe Ink Pad. This is mixed media pigment ink and slow drying, so I speeded up the drying with craft heater.

Next step is adding some thin layer of white gesso on the page to mute the background and also this give some extra texture and distress look on the background. I use mini cooking rubber spatula for this step.

On corners of the page, I added some dots on the page using the Dots All Over stencil, acrylic paint, and make up sponge. I layered and overlapping the paint on the page.

I mixed texture paste and fine glitter to create glitter paste. I added it in the middle of the page with Glass Heart stencil and spatula. I dried it with craft heater. When using craft heater with texture paste, you need to be very careful to not heat it up too hot because it will bubble.

I scribble some Red Cherry Gelato on the heart and sprayed it with some water. I used the brush to mixed the color on the heart. I wiped off some extra with paper towel. I dried the color with craft heater.

I added some of the DecoFoil glue on the heart randomly, dried it, and then added some of the Gold Foil Transfer Sheet on the heart. I used bone folder to transfer the foil on it. You also can use your finger if you want to.

I added the shadow around the heart with watercolor pencil and damp brush. For this step, you can also use your finger and water to smudge the watercolor pencil pigment. It is easy and simple.

I stamped the All Your Heart - Say It Big stamp on the page using VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink Pad. Then, I dried the pigment ink with craft heater.
