The Technique
Shirley used a background she already had -- Distress Oxides sponged over the Droplets stencil. By looking at her "stash" with fresh eyes, she was able to build a cohesive scene without extra ink blending.
How to Get the Look
- Change the Orientation: Shirley turned the background upside down. It’s a simple trick that can make a familiar pattern look completely different.
- The Mandala Doily: To anchor the stamped images, she used a Bloomdala Bliss Felicity die-cut as a doily. This provides a detailed base for the sundae, macaron, and coffee cup.
- Mix Your Mediums: She combined physical stamps like Sketchy Coffee Cups with digital images from the Sugar Rush set.
Why We Love It
Question of the Day: Do you keep a stash of pre-made backgrounds for days when you need a head start? Let us know in the comments!
- Resourceful: It’s a perfect way to clear out your background stash and make progress on your projects.
- Effective Layers: Using a mandala as a supportive element instead of the main focus adds a high level of detail.
- Versatile: This layout works for almost any combination of small stamps or die cuts.
