Beyond the Brush: Building Depth with Inks and Acrylics 🎨✨

Ever wonder how to build a vibrant, multi-layered background without losing that "artistic" edge? It’s all about the order of your mediums! Today Shery shares the process of building this high-contrast look using calligraphy inks and acrylics. 🌟

🌟 Transparent to Opaque Layering

The Technique
Starting with fluid, transparent washes and building up to opaque acrylics creates a depth that really makes your focal point pop. ✨

How to Get the Look

1️⃣ Ink Wash Base: Start with calligraphy inks used as a loose wash (similar to watercolor) to establish your primary colors. ✒️

2️⃣ Block in Shapes: Use acrylic paints to add bold blocks and shapes over the dried ink. πŸ–Œ️

3️⃣ Detail & Splatter: Paint organic marks and add acrylic paint splatters to create movement and texture. πŸ’§

4️⃣ Define with Ink: Use black acrylic ink to define the four main shapes, giving the background structure and contrast. πŸ“

5️⃣ Stamped Textures: Add details using stamps from Art Marks 3. 🎨

6️⃣ Create a "Landing Spot": Paint a white block in the center to provide a clean space for your sentiment to stand out against the busy background. ⬜

7️⃣ The Final Stamp: Finish with the Trust in the Lord stamp for a bold, meaningful focal point. πŸ™Œ

Why We Love It

  • Visual Contrast: The mix of fluid ink washes and thick acrylic shapes creates "shelf-life" for the eye. ✨

  • Intentional Focus: Using the white "landing spot" ensures your message is never lost in the art. 🌟

  • One-of-a-Kind: No two ink washes ever blend the same way! 🎨
