Happy Sunday, STAMPlorations friends! We have a new batch of stencil inspiration today. You'll get to see projects that show off how to creatively use
ARTplorations stencils.
And each month, we'll pick one winner of a $15 gift code -- the winner will be drawn from all comments left on the Stencil Sunday posts for the month, as well as from the designers' blogs.
Have a look at Helen's projects:
Hello everyone! It is Sunday Stencil day!
Helen here and I would like to share 4 ways you can use stencils for dry embossing. Yes... you can use stencils for dry-embossing with your cutting/embossing machine.
I used Gemini Junior to emboss all these backgrounds. I tried a couple ways of sandwiching the plates to get good enough result. You need to check your machine sandwich for this technique; sometimes you need to try different ways like I did. You will need a rubber embossing that made specially for your machine. This rubber mat is a must have in between the sandwich plates.
So here are the four embossed backgrounds:
First embossed background, I used the
Brick Wall stencil. This is the basic dry-embossing with stencil technique. I simply added the stencil on the cardstock and ran it through the machine.
But I found out that there was still some white ink on the stencil from the previous project that I got some white lines on the kraft cardstock. But I think I like how it turned out.
*****
On the second background, I used the
Faces: Beauty stencil. First, I taped the stencil on the cardstock, put it in between the sandwich plates and then ran it through the machine. I get the basic embossed image on the cardstock.
With the stencil still on the cardstock, I added the Distress Ink Vintage Photo with makeup sponge to color just the hair. I left it as it is to see the highlight on the beautiful hair of the girl.
*****
For the third background, I added some watercolor paint on watercolor paper to create that watercolor wash background. I dried it with craft heater. And then after that, I taped the
Petals 3 stencil on the watercolored paper. I added some purple Gelatos on the stencil, and using fairly wet finger, I blended the color around the center of the stencil.
I removed the stencil and dried the Gelatos on it with craft heater. After that, I put the stencil back and then embossed it using the same technique.
*****
The fourth background, I created a alcohol ink background. And then I dry-embossed it using the
Arrow Which Way stencil.
I trimmed the paper into a paper strip and added on a white card for a border.
Isn't it amazing that you can use stencils in many different ways? I hope today you can try dry embossing and share your projects in our
Stencil Challenge this month. Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteThese are so cool!! The white "leftover" ink on the brick pattern really makes the bricks pop! I'd say it was a fortuitous accident. And the embossed face looks fabulous with the hair colored like that!
