I started off by placing my Feathers and Arrows large stencil onto mixed media paper, and covered all exposed areas - this stuff gets everywhere! Then I sprinkled on a few different colours. You only need the tiniest amount of powder. You can see the sprinkles inside the stencil and also lying on the stencil.
A couple of spritzes with water - patience is required at this stage because you have to wait for the colour to react with the water, and until all the crystals have bloomed you don't really know what you've got.
I didn't want to saturate the Brushos because I happen to like the speckled effect. But look at all those leftover colour globules on the stencil from the powder that was lying on it. They didn't got to waste, as you'll have gathered from the first photo!
I finished the card off by die cutting the new CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies and mounting it onto purple card. The mixed media paper is quite thick and the die flattened the texture of the paper, giving a lovely extra border ;)
If you refer back to the photo above where I'd removed the stencil, you'll see that the colours don't look as merged as they do below. That's because there was still water sitting on the Brushos and the colours hadn't bloomed fully. Patience!
I took another piece of mixed media paper, spritzed it lightly with water, flipped the stencil over (minus the washi tape!) and pressed it onto the paper to get a negative print of the feather.
To finish the card, I added a sentiment from The Bee's Knees Rosebuds and some pink and black grunge stamping in the corners using a couple of stamps from Mixed Media Elements.
