{Spotlight Project} Shery Creates a Monochromatic One Layer Card

In less than a week, Mr. STAMPlorations and I will be celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary. It'll be the last anniversary we'll celebrate with just the two of us :o) I thought I'd make him a simple masculine card and so I went monochromatic on this one layer card.

STEP 1
I cut a slope out of scrap paper and used that to mask the bottom part of the card base before applying a thin layer of gesso with a plastic card.

STEP 2
I applied Distress paints (Vintage Photo and Rusty Hinge) over the gesso.

STEP 3
Next I stamped the oriole and sunflower (from The Birds and the Blooms) in coffee Archival ink.

STEP 4
To add an even more distressed look on the panel, I stamped the newsprint stamp (from Mixed Media Grunge) randomly, as well as used the plastic card to create the lines.

STEP 5
I removed the mask and stamped the border in Rich Cocoa Memento Luxe ink,

STEP 6
I ran a dark brown Japanese watercolor brush pen along the top edge of the stamped border and then finished the card by stamping the sentiment.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Have a great weekend!
