words that matter | GRACE + Floral Parade with Craftyfield

Sometimes the sentiment really is the star of the card.

That's what Craftyfield shows us with these two cards featuring Simple Expressions: GRACE paired with the Floral Parade Ephemera Cut-Outs. She used the same pairing for both cards, but the finished designs feel quite different. One is clean and simple. The other has a little more going on.

And both keep GRACE front and center.

Let GRACE Take Center Stage

For her first card, Craftyfield kept things very simple. She stamped the GRACE outline in black Versafine and the solid word in a pinkish color, then embossed it with red UTEE with gold lustre. She placed a floral bouquet from the Floral Parade ephemera cut-outs underneath the sentiment and matted the panel onto a blue card base.

And then she stopped.

I know that sounds simple, but sometimes that's the hardest part. When you have a whole stash of things you could add, it's pretty easy to keep going. Craftyfield resisted that temptation, and I think the card is better for it. The sentiment already has plenty of impact, and the floral image gives it just enough support without taking over.

Frame the Sentiment

For her second card, Craftyfield used the same GRACE stamp and Floral Parade ephemera cut-outs, but this time she built a little more around the sentiment. She framed the design with torn pieces of an Old Letters Pocket Backdrop, then added two pieces from the Floral Parade ephemera cut-outs. She fussy cut the flowers to remove the white border, which helps them blend right into the vintage-style background. Once again, she stamped the GRACE outline in black and the solid word in pink to coordinate with the flowers.

It's a little more layered than her first card, but GRACE is still the first thing you notice.

Creative Takeaway

These two cards are a good reminder that you don't need to build a complicated design around a strong sentiment. Sometimes the best thing you can do is give the word some breathing room. Other times, you can frame it with patterned paper, add a couple of coordinating images, and create a little more visual interest. The trick is deciding what you want to be the star.

And look at how different the second card feels. Same sentiment. Ephemera from Floral Parade. But add the Old Letters backdrop and fussy-cut the flowers, and you've got a completely different card.

That's one of the things I like about the Simple Expressions stamps. You can keep the design simple, or you can build around the sentiment and make it part of a bigger composition.

Words That Matter

That's really what Simple Expressions is about. A meaningful word can say a lot. Give it some room, pair it with an image that supports the message, and let it become part of the artwork instead of something you simply tuck into a corner.

There are 18 words and quotes in the collection, so there's plenty to choose from depending on what you want your card to say. And because the Simple Expressions stamps work so well with our paper goods, you can mix and match them with Card Fronts, ATCs, Collage Sheets, Pocket Backdrops, and Ephemera Cut-Outs to create your own combinations.

When you purchase a Simple Expressions stamp and a qualifying Paper Goods Pack, the Paper Goods Pack is automatically 40% off.

Until next time, keep creating with words that matter.

Whimsical Homes Take Flight | More Creative Ideas with Craftyfield

One of the things I enjoy most about featuring our STAMPgirls is seeing how they interpret the same products in completely different ways. In Sunday's post, STAMPgirl Craftyfield showed us how the Whimsical Homes ATC Pack could become the focal point of beautifully layered cards. Today, she's back with two more creative ideas -- one whimsical and one interactive -- that show just how versatile these little homes can be.

For her first project, Craftyfield imagined a growing family in a bigger and better home. She created a softly blended sky using Distress Inks, giving the background a subtle cloud effect that perfectly complements the whimsical scene.

The balloons, stamped with the A Snarky Birthday to You stamp set and colored with pencils, create the illusion of the house floating upward. A simple computer-generated sentiment, "Movin' Up!", completes the story while keeping the focus on the charming Whimsical Homes image.

It's a sweet, imaginative design that proves a card can tell a story with just a few thoughtfully chosen elements.

Craftyfield's second project is an interactive flip card designed to showcase not one, but two Whimsical Homes ATCs.

She matted each ATC with coordinating cardstock, then incorporated Faded Botanicals Collage Papers and Old Letters Pocket Backdrops to decorate the remaining panels. As the card opens, the design flips to reveal another charming home, giving the recipient a delightful interactive surprise. It's a clever reminder that ATCs aren't limited to single-panel cards—they can easily become the centerpiece of fun folds and interactive designs.

Creative Takeaway

One of the easiest ways to stretch your paper crafting supplies is to think beyond the obvious. In these two cards, the same Whimsical Homes ATCs tell two completely different stories. One creates the illusion of a house floating into the sky, while the other becomes part of an interactive flip card that reveals a second scene. Neither project required complicated techniques -- just a willingness to look at the images a little differently.

Sometimes creativity isn't about adding more. It's about discovering a new way to present what you already have.

Discover What's Possible

The Whimsical Homes ATC Pack is filled with charming illustrated homes that work beautifully as focal points for cards, journals, tags, mixed media projects, and interactive designs.

Charming Cottage Cards | Craftyfield with the Whimsical Homes ATC Pack

There's something undeniably charming about little cottages. They evoke warmth, comfort, and stories waiting to be told. Today, STAMPgirl Craftyfield brings that feeling to life with two delightful cards featuring our Whimsical Homes ATC pack, each showcasing a different approach to layering while allowing the artwork to remain the focal point.

Both cards have a soft, inviting feel, yet each tells its own visual story through color, texture, and thoughtfully chosen embellishments. If you'd like an even closer look at how these projects came together, be sure to visit Craftyfield's blog, where she shares more about her creative process behind each card.

For her first card, Craftyfield paired one of the Whimsical Homes ATCs with beautifully layered patterned papers, lace, ribbon, and softly stamped foliage using the Healing Herbs stamp set. The light blue botanical images echo the cool tones of the cottage, while the pink patterned papers add warmth and sweetness without overwhelming the focal image.

The layered papers and embellishments frame the ATC beautifully, allowing the charming illustration to remain the centerpiece of the design. It's a lovely example of how a small focal image can become the heart of an elegant, thoughtfully composed card.

Her second card takes on a more vintage-inspired mixed media feel. Here, Craftyfield combined Old Letters Pocket Backdrops, Faded Botanicals Collage Papers, Stitched Spring Landscape Die, Nostalgic #1 Clear Stickers, and the Life Is Sweeter stamp set to build a beautifully layered background for another Whimsical Homes ATC.

One of my favorite details is the stitched frame surrounding the focal image. It adds a tactile quality that makes the little cottage feel almost nestled into the card rather than simply adhered to the front. The small stamped sentiment and layered background details add interest while keeping the ATC front and center.

Creative Takeaway

These two cards are a wonderful reminder that a small focal image can inspire an entire design. Rather than filling every inch of the card, Craftyfield surrounds each Whimsical Homes ATC with coordinating papers, stamped textures, stitching, ribbons, and subtle embellishments that support the artwork without competing with it. Each layer serves a purpose, adding depth and personality while allowing the beautiful cottage illustrations to shine.

These projects also demonstrate how products from different STAMPlorations collections can work together seamlessly. Paper goods, stamps, dies, and clear stickers each contribute something unique, proving that thoughtful layering -- not complicated techniques -- is often what gives a handmade card its charm.

Retro Femme ATCs Take Center Stage with Craftyfield

One of the things I love most about our paper goods is that they're designed to work beautifully together. An ATC can become the focal point of a card. Ephemera can add storytelling. A stencil can build atmosphere. Add a die cut or a clear sticker, and suddenly you've created something that's uniquely your own. STAMPgirl Craftyfield's two cards are wonderful examples of how a single Retro Femme ATC can inspire completely different designs.

For her first card, Craftyfield paired one of the Retro Femme ATCs with elements from the Nostalgia #1 Ephemera Cut-Outs collection, creating a nostalgic, vintage-inspired composition. I love how she layered the pieces over warm yellow and red cardstock, allowing the portrait to remain the star while the soda bottle and patterned strip add charm and personality. The tiny "moments in time" clear sticker is the perfect finishing touch - subtle, yet it beautifully reinforces the overall theme.

Her second card takes a more artsy mixed-media approach. Using the Strung Lights stencil to create an energetic background, she framed another Retro Femme ATC and added layered butterflies from the Flutter Zen and Bloomdala Bliss Felicity dies. What I especially love is how the butterfly echoes the bow in the portrait, creating a visual connection that ties the entire design together. The bold "you rock!" clear sticker finishes the card perfectly without distracting from the beautiful focal image.

These two cards show just how versatile our Retro Femme ATC can be. Whether your style leans toward clean layering or colorful mixed media, they're an easy way to create a strong focal point while leaving plenty of room to make each card your own.

Creative Takeaway

When building a card around a focal image, think beyond simply adding embellishments. Instead, choose supporting elements that reinforce your story or repeat shapes and colors already found in the focal point. On the first card, the layered ephemera builds a nostalgic scene. On the second, the butterfly repeats the curves and movement found in the portrait, creating a design that feels cohesive from top to bottom.

Retro Glamour and Interactive Folds: ATC Spotlight with Craftyfield

Hello, STAMPfriends! Craftyfield is back with another ATC spotlight. Today, she is sharing two gorgeous card designs that put a vintage-inspired spin on paper crafting using our Retro Femme ATC set. Whether you love clean panels with textured backgrounds or dynamic, interactive folds, these projects are sure to spark your creativity!

Here is a look at what Craftyfield created for us today:

Radiate Happy Retro

For her first card, Craftyfield designed a striking card featuring a soft pink card base and elegant, textured layers. She used a beautiful portrait from Retro Femme as her focal point. She framed the image on a white panel accented by the intricate geometric cuts of the Art Border #1 die. For the background, she ink-blended soft purple tones through the Shutters mini stencil to add a subtle pattern behind the retro illustration. She stamped the sentiment "radiate happy" along the bottom.

Retro Femme Interactive Waterfall Card

If you love interactive card making, this second project is an absolute showstopper! Craftyfield created a beautiful dark brown waterfall card that reveals a new vintage illustration with every flip. She used a rich chocolate brown card base for this interactive design. The front left panel features a white layer stamped with a heartfelt sentiment from the Thank You Coffee stamp set, accented by gems. On the right, she added a vibrant sunflower-in-a-jar image from Floral Parade Ephemera Cut-Outs. Flipping through the waterfall mechanism sequentially reveals three distinct vintage portraits from Retro Femme -- including one with retro sunglasses, one with bold red earrings, and one with a blue polka-dot hair scarf.

We hope you enjoyed these incredible designs by Craftyfield! Which style is your favorite -- the elegant stenciled panel card or the interactive vintage waterfall card?

{Mixed Media Tutorial} Stencils and Hot Foils

Hello crafters, Craftyfield here today for a new Mixed Media tutorial.

As it's nearly Christmas I thought I would indulge you with a technique that gives SHINE!!!
For the most reflective, metallic, shine foils are the best. Today I am using Hot foils, which require the use of a laminator. (I think it is possible to use an iron but I  wouldn't risk it!)
