Paper Goods Showcase | Vintage Florals + Powerful Women with Angy

Paper goods can give you a beautiful place to start, whether you're building a layered card around a vintage image or creating a mixed-media design from an ATC and a sheet of collage paper. STAMPgirl Angy shows both approaches with these two projects, using different STAMPlorations paper goods as the foundation for each card.

Add Texture to a Vintage Card Front

For her first card, Angy started with a Vintage Flowers card front, letting the vintage floral artwork provide the main focal point. She added the Tapestry stencil over the background to bring in another layer of pattern and texture, then finished the card with a sentiment from the Faith Expressions stamp set.

The vintage artwork and stenciled texture work especially well together. The card front gives you an instant focal image, while the stencil lets you add your own creative touch without having to build the entire background from scratch.

Turn an ATC into the Focal Point

Angy's second card takes a different approach, starting with a Powerful Women ATC. She layered a Mixed Media Background clear sticker directly over the ATC, adding another visual element while still allowing the artwork underneath to remain part of the design. For the card base, she used a sheet from the Botanical Beats collage paper pack, which gives the ATC a soft, botanical setting and ties the different elements together.

I love this kind of layering because the ATC doesn't have to be used by itself. Adding a clear sticker over the artwork and pairing it with collage paper creates a finished composition with very little fuss.

Start with Paper Goods, Then Make It Your Own

Both of Angy's cards show why paper goods make such useful creative starting points. A card front can provide the artwork for an entire card, while an ATC can become the focal point of a layered collage. Add a stencil, stamp, clear sticker, or another sheet of paper goods, and you've got plenty of room to put your own spin on the design.

You don't always need to start with a blank piece of cardstock and figure everything out from there. Sometimes the right piece of paper is already waiting for you. From there, it's simply a matter of deciding what you want to add.

Until next time, keep creating and discovering what's possible with STAMPlorations Paper Goods.

Paper Goods Showcase | Newsprint Autumn Ephemera Tiles with Stephanie

Fall may still be a little way off on the calendar, but that hasn't stopped STAMPgirl Stephanie from bringing some autumn color to her cards. For these two projects, she used the Newsprint Autumn Ephemera Tiles in two different ways, showing just how much you can do with a single sheet of paper goods.

Turn One Sheet into Six Card Elements

For her first card, Stephanie cut the Newsprint Autumn Ephemera Tiles into six individual pieces and matted each one before arranging them across a kraft card front. The collection of autumn images and newsprint details creates an instant collage without needing to build each little element from scratch.

For the sentiment, Stephanie stamped one of the sentiments from the Words Of Gratitude stamp set with VersaFine Vintage Sepia ink, then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. She die cut the sentiment with a Stitched Tags die, added twine, and popped the tag up over the ephemera tiles. The result feels like a little collection of autumn snapshots, with the raised sentiment tag bringing everything together.

Cut the Paper Goods into Something Different

Stephanie's second card takes the same Newsprint Autumn Ephemera Tiles in a very different direction. Instead of using the tiles as individual pieces, she die cut the entire sheet with two Zen Coffee Cup dies. She mounted the patterned coffee cups onto solid die-cut coffee cups in coordinating cardstock, then arranged them on an ivory card base. A few adhesive-backed dots add simple accents, while a foam-backed Cheers word die provides the finishing sentiment.

I particularly love seeing the ephemera tiles used this way. You don't have to use a paper goods sheet exactly as it comes. Die cutting it can turn the artwork into something entirely new.

One Sheet, More Possibilities

These two cards are a great example of the flexibility of paper goods. Stephanie used the same Newsprint Autumn Ephemera Tiles for both projects, but the first card treats the pieces as ready-made collage elements while the second transforms the entire sheet into die-cut shapes.

That's the beauty of having paper goods in your stash. You can use them as focal pieces, cut them apart, layer them, die cut them, or combine them with your stamps and dies to create something that feels completely your own.

Paper Goods Showcase | Blushing Blooms + Color Me Blooms with Stephanie

Sometimes one project can give you the color inspiration for the next. That's exactly what STAMPgirl Stephanie did with these two cards, starting with an ATC from the Blushing Blooms ATC pack and then using its colors and shading as inspiration for a Color Me Blooms Spring Florals card front.

Together, the cards are a great example why having different kinds of paper goods in your stash can help with creativity. An ATC can become more than a focal piece, and a card front doesn't have to stay exactly as it comes.

Start with an ATC

For her first card, Stephanie used one of the ATCs from the Blushing Blooms ATC pack as the focal point. The painted floral design already brings plenty of color and detail to the card, so she kept the rest of the design focused on supporting it.

Behind the ATC, she created a layered background using the Abstract Oats stencil and Found Fragments #3 stamp. The combination adds pattern and texture without competing with the flowers. She finished the card with a sentiment from the Inspirational #1 clear sticker pack, giving her a quick way to add a meaningful message without taking attention away from the artwork.

Let One Project Inspire the Next

For her second card, Stephanie reached for a Color Me Blooms Spring Florals card front. Instead of treating the printed design as something that needed to be colored from scratch with a completely separate palette, she looked back at the ATC from her first card and used its colors and shading as inspiration.

I love that connection between the two projects. The card front gave her the beautiful floral composition, while the first project gave her a ready-made color direction. The result is a completely different card, but you can still see the relationship between the two.

She finished it with a sentiment from the Hey Sunshine clear sticker pack, another simple way to add a polished sentiment without having to stamp and trim one separately.

One Project Can Inspire Another

Stephanie's two cards are a great reminder that paper goods don't have to be used in isolation. An ATC can offer color inspiration for a card front, while a card front can give a beautiful foundation for your own coloring and creative interpretation.

And that's one of the reasons our paper goods work so well together. You can mix and match different packs, pull ideas and colors from one project into another, and build a stash that gives you plenty of starting points whenever you sit down to create.

Choose the Paper Goods You Want

If you like having a variety of paper goods ready to inspire your next project, there are several ways to build your stash.

With the Paper Goods VIP Subscription, U.S. subscribers choose any four qualifying paper goods products every four weeks for $21, a $28 value, with free U.S. shipping. The Card Fronts VIP Subscription lets you choose one card fronts pack every four weeks with free worldwide shipping, while our ATC VIP Subscription includes a growing selection of $7 packs such as Blushing Blooms.

Paper Goods Showcase | Artsy Abstract #2 + Color Me Spring with Stephanie

I love when a paper goods piece gives you a starting point rather than dictating exactly where a card has to go. STAMPgirl Stephanie's two projects are a great example of that. She used two very different paper goods packs, Artsy Abstract #2 Card Fronts and Color Me Spring ATC, and combined them with Found Fragments and other STAMPlorations products to create two colorful, mixed-media-inspired cards.

What really caught my eye is how the same Found Fragments collection works with both designs. The result is two cards that feel like they belong together while still having completely different personalities.

Build a Birthday Card Around a Colorful Focal Point

For her first card, Stephanie used an Artsy Abstract #2 Card Front as the foundation for a bright birthday design. She layered a colorful floral piece over the abstract background and added the Found Fragments 1, 2, and 3 to bring even more of that mixed-media feel to the design. The HAPPY BIRTHDAY stamping in the upper right adds another layer of pattern, while the sentiment from A Snarky Birthday to You brings in the perfect bit of attitude: “at least you're not as OLD as you will be next year.”

I also love that Stephanie carried the STAMPlorations branding into the back of the card with Makers Mark #1. It's a small detail, but it gives the finished card that extra handmade touch.

Let the Background Become Part of the Artwork

Stephanie took a different direction with her second card, using a Color Me Spring ATC as the focal point. The butterfly artwork brings plenty of color and detail on its own, but she surrounded it with more layers of pattern and texture using Found Fragments 1, 2, and 3. She added the star stamp from A Snarky Birthday to You and numbers from the retired Mixed Media Elements stamp set, letting those little stamped details become part of the background rather than simply adding a separate embellishment. The Inspirational #1 clear stickers sentiment completes the card with a message about learning to dance in the rain. I especially like how the large butterfly remains the focal point even with all the other visual elements happening around it.

Two Paper Goods Packs, Endless Possibilities

These two cards show just how differently paper goods can be used when you treat them as part of the design rather than the entire design. The Artsy Abstract #2 Card Front creates a colorful foundation for a playful birthday card, while the Color Me Spring ATC becomes the centerpiece of a more inspirational design.

And because Stephanie used Found Fragments on both cards, you can really see how a consistent supporting element can tie very different paper goods pieces together. Add a few stamps, a sentiment, and whatever else catches your eye, and suddenly you have a card that feels completely your own.

Creative Takeaway

Don't be afraid to layer different kinds of paper goods and stamped elements together. A card doesn't have to have one obvious background and one obvious focal point. Pattern, texture, artwork, numbers, and little stamped marks can all become part of the same visual story. Start with the paper goods piece that catches your eye, then look through your stash for elements that repeat its colors, shapes, or overall feel. You may be surprised by how well seemingly unrelated pieces work together.

Keep Creating with Paper Goods

Stephanie's projects are a wonderful reminder of why I love having different types of paper goods in the STAMPlorations lineup. Card fronts, ATCs, ephemera, and other paper goods can all become starting points for something much more personal when you mix them with stamps, stencils, dies, and pieces from your existing stash.

Paper Goods Showcase | Pop Art Unicorns Card Fronts with Stephanie

It can be freeing to start a card with artwork that’s already doing most of the work for you. Today, STAMPgirl Stephanie L. shows two very different ways to use our Pop Art Unicorns Card Fronts -- one as a layered background and the other as the star of a clean, simple design.

The bold colors, expressive unicorn artwork, and collage-style details give these card fronts plenty of personality right out of the pack. Stephanie's projects show that you can either build on that artwork with additional layers or simply add a sentiment and let the Card Front shine.

Add Layers for More Dimension

For her first card, Stephanie adhered a card front directly to the card base before adding a slightly smaller piece of vellum over the artwork. She fussy cut the unicorn and flowers from the card front and layered them back over the vellum, creating a dimensional effect while allowing the artwork underneath to remain visible. She finished the card with a sentiment from the Bloomdala Bliss stamp set.

I love how this approach turns a ready-made card front into something that feels much more involved. The vellum creates a subtle separation between the background and the fussy-cut elements, while the repeated artwork gives the card extra depth.

Creative lesson: Don't think of a card front as something you have to use only once or in one piece. Try fussy cutting elements from it, layering them over vellum or another surface, and creating dimension with artwork that's already beautifully coordinated.

Keep It Simple and Let the Artwork Shine

For her second card, Stephanie took the opposite approach and let the card front do almost all the work. She simply mounted the card front onto a bright pink card base and added the Simple Expressions: LEAP sentiment. She stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black ink, heat embossed it with clear embossing powder, and then colored the letters with a Copic marker. The result is bold, colorful, and wonderfully graphic without needing much else.

Sometimes a beautiful card front really doesn't need much embellishment. A strong sentiment and a little color coordination can be all it takes to turn it into a finished card.

Creative lesson: When your card front already has a strong focal point, resist the urge to add more. Choose a sentiment that complements the artwork, pull a color from the design, and let the paper goods do the heavy lifting.

Discover What's Possible

These two cards show just how flexible card fronts can be. Use one as a ready-made background for a quick card, or look more closely at the artwork and start cutting, layering, and rearranging the elements to create something completely your own.

That's one of the things I love about our paper goods: they give you a beautiful starting point without dictating where you have to take the design. Use the whole piece, cut it apart, layer it, or simply add a sentiment and call it done.

The Pop Art Unicorns Card Fronts are available in the STAMPlorations store, along with a growing collection of card fronts and other paper goods designed to make creating easier and more fun.

You can also choose your favorite paper goods through our Paper Goods VIP Subscription, so you get fresh designs to create with without receiving a mystery assortment.

words that matter | DREAM & SPEAK + Pop Art Faces Card Fronts with Stephanie Severin

Happy Wednesday, STAMPfriends! We're back with another installment of our Words That Matter series, where our STAMPgirls pair Simple Expressions stamps with STAMPlorations paper goods to show just how easy it is to create cards that are quick, stylish, and meaningful.

Today, STAMPgirl Stephanie S. pairs two Simple Expressions -- DREAM and SPEAK -- with our bold and colorful Pop Art Faces Card Fronts. And these pairings couldn't be more perfect: DREAM big dreams and SPEAK beautiful things give each expressive face its own message and personality.

Stephanie is always showing us fresh ways to let paper goods take center stage. Here, the artwork does most of the visual heavy lifting, while those Simple Expressions provide exactly the right finishing words.

DREAM Big Dreams

For her first card, Stephanie chose one of the dramatic faces from the Pop Art Faces Card Fronts and layered it onto black cardstock before mounting it on a bright turquoise card base. She stamped the outline version of DREAM then stamped the solid version in red, pairing it with the scripty big dreams sub-sentiment. The strong black mat helps both the artwork and sentiment pop, while the turquoise card base picks up the vibrant color running through the face. The result is bold, graphic, and wonderfully encouraging -- exactly the kind of card that doesn't need a lot of extras to make an impact.

SPEAK Beautiful Things

Stephanie's second card turns up the color with another Pop Art Faces Card Front, this time featuring a fabulous sunglass-wearing face against a vibrant collage-style background. She paired it with the outline SPEAK and beautiful things sub-sentiment, stamping the solid version in purple to coordinate with the artwork and card base. A black mat around the sentiment gives it just enough definition against all that glorious color. It's a simple combination -- Card Front + sentiment -- but the personality of the artwork makes the finished card anything but ordinary.

Creative Takeaway

When you're working with a bold patterned card front, you don't have to compete with it. Let the artwork establish the color, style, and focal point, then use your sentiment to reinforce the mood.

Stephanie's cards are a great example of how Simple Expressions stamps and paper goods can become their own little cardmaking system. Start with a card front you love, pull a color from the artwork for your sentiment or card base, and let those few coordinated choices do the work.

And because Simple Expressions gives you both solid and outline versions of the main word, you can easily change the personality of your sentiment simply by changing how you stamp or color it.

perfect pairs | Party & Wishes – Extended Style with Stephanie

Earlier this week, I introduced Perfect Pairs as complete coordinating cardmaking systems designed to take the guesswork out of creating. Yesterday, I shared projects using only the contents of the Party & Wishes collection to show just how quickly beautiful cards can come together.

Today, STAMPgirl Stephanie takes the collection one step further.

I like to call this Extended Style -- starting with a Perfect Pairs collection and then incorporating other STAMPlorations products to create even more layered, personalized designs. It's proof that while Perfect Pairs is designed to stand on its own, it also plays beautifully with the rest of your STAMPlorations collection.

For her first card, Stephanie paired the oversized cupcake ephemera with the Celebrate Big sentiment and layered everything over one of our Junk Journal Collage Card Fronts. She added interest on the card front by stamping the coordinating Perfect Pairs background stamp in black. The bold collage background instantly sets a festive tone, while the large cupcake becomes an irresistible focal point. A few scattered black embellishments finish the design without competing with the colorful backdrop.

What I love most is how naturally the collage card front enhances the celebration theme. The bright colors and mixed-media textures add excitement and energy, making the card feel like a party before you even read the sentiment.

Her second card continues the celebration with another oversized focal image -- this time a whimsical slice of cake lifted by a cluster of colorful balloons. Once again, Stephanie lets the Junk Journal Collage Card Front provide the perfect supporting role. The vibrant background echoes the playful colors of the balloons while allowing the dimensional focal image to take center stage.

It's bold, cheerful, and impossible not to smile at.

Creative Takeaway

One of the goals behind Perfect Pairs was to remove the uncertainty of coordinating products. Every collection is intentionally designed to work beautifully right out of the package. But that doesn't mean the creativity stops there.

Once you've created a few cards using the collection on its own, try looking around your craft room for products that reinforce the same mood or theme. In Stephanie's case, the energetic colors and eclectic textures of the Junk Journal Collage Card Fronts were a natural extension of Party & Wishes. Instead of competing with the collection, they amplified its joyful, celebratory spirit.

Think of Perfect Pairs as your creative foundation. Start with a coordinated system, then build outward as inspiration strikes.

Discover What's Possible

Every Perfect Pairs collection is available three ways:

  • Coordinating Stamp Set
  • Coordinating Ephemera Cuts
  • Perfect Pairs Collection -- the complete coordinating cardmaking system

Whether you enjoy creating Core Style cards using only the collection or exploring Extended Style by incorporating other STAMPlorations favorites, Perfect Pairs helps you spend less time coordinating products and more time creating.

Until next time, keep creating with confidence -- and let Perfect Pairs do the coordinating.

words that matter | GLOW + Things with Wings with Chris Dring

Some words don't ask for attention -- they quietly remind us of who we're meant to be. GLOW is one of those words.

When I designed this Simple Expressions set, I wasn't thinking about bright lights or bold colors. I was thinking about the kind of glow that comes from within: kindness, hope, faith, joy, and the quiet confidence that shines through the way we live our lives.

Today, STAMPgirl Chris is pairing GLOW with our Things with Wings Card Fronts, creating two beautiful cards that capture that idea in two completely different ways.

For her first card, Chris selected a softly painted butterfly card front and enhanced it with a few touches of glitter to the butterfly's body and antennae. The sparkle is subtle, but it immediately draws your eye, reinforcing the message of GLOW from within. By placing the sentiment across the lower portion of the artwork, she creates a clean, balanced design that lets both the image and the message share the spotlight. It's a wonderful reminder that sometimes the smallest detail can reinforce the biggest idea.

Her second card features a beautifully illustrated bird card front framed with torn edges and layered onto a dark mat for added contrast. A scattering of bright orange sequins echoes the warm tones of the bird and brings just enough sparkle and movement to the design. The placement of the sentiment near the top allows the bird to remain the focal point while tying the entire composition together. The torn edges add softness and texture, giving the finished card an organic, handcrafted feel without taking away from the artwork itself.

Creative Takeaway

One of the things I enjoy most about pairing the Simple Expressions stamps with our Paper Goods is seeing how the same word can take on a different personality depending on the imagery around it.

With the butterfly, GLOW feels delicate and quietly radiant. With the bird, it feels warm, hopeful, and full of life.

That's the beauty of working with thoughtfully coordinated products. The sentiment remains the same, but the surrounding artwork helps tell a slightly different story each time you create. Sometimes all it takes is one meaningful word and one beautiful background to create a card that speaks volumes.

words that matter | creating harmony with color

Some words encourage us to slow down. Some remind us what's important. And sometimes, the right word paired with the right colors creates a card that feels beautifully balanced without a lot of effort.

For these four cards, I reached for four different Simple Expressions stamp sets -- COLLECT, BLOOM, SHINE, and FOCUS -- and paired each one with a different design from our Spring Florals A2 Card Fronts collection.

At first glance, they may look like simple cards. But they're also a reminder that sometimes the smallest design choices can make the biggest difference.

One of the things I wanted to experiment with was color harmony.

Instead of stamping each featured word in black, I matched the solid word to one of the dominant colors already found in each floral background. That simple change helps the sentiment feel like it belongs to the artwork instead of sitting on top of it.

To add a little extra interest, I stamped subtle text from Art Marks #3 along with a coordinating paint splatter from our upcoming Perfect Pairs: Blooms & Sunshine release. Both were stamped in colors that echoed the watercolor florals, creating texture without taking attention away from the focal sentiment.

The best part? These four cards came together in about fifteen minutes. There was no complicated layering. No intricate die cutting. No elaborate embellishing. Just beautiful paper goods, meaningful words, and a few carefully chosen details working together.

One of my favorite things about the Simple Expressions collection is how naturally it pairs with our paper goods. The watercolor florals provide the color and movement. The subtle background stamping adds depth. And the featured word becomes the artwork itself.

It's clean.

It's artsy.

And it creates cards that feel polished while taking very little time to make.

Creative Takeaway

One of the easiest ways to create cards that feel polished and thoughtfully designed is to build around a color story.

Instead of automatically reaching for black ink, take a moment to study your background. Pull one of the dominant colors from the artwork and use it to stamp your focal word. Then repeat that same color in subtle supporting details, like background texture, paint splatters, or small embellishments.

Those little choices create visual harmony. Rather than competing with the artwork, the sentiment becomes part of it.

You'll also notice that these cards rely on restraint. I didn't add ribbon, gems, or intricate die cuts. The Spring Florals A2 Card Fronts already provide beautiful watercolor artwork, while the subtle text from Art Marks #3 and the coordinating paint splatters add just enough depth without stealing the spotlight. The result is a card that feels artistic, layered, and complete -- even though it comes together in just a few minutes.

Sometimes we think a card needs more to make it special. More embellishments. More layers. More techniques. But often, it's the thoughtful relationship between color, texture, and a meaningful word that creates the biggest impact.

Discover What's Possible

One of my favorite things about the Simple Expressions collection is seeing how beautifully these stamps pair with our paper goods.

Whether you combine them with Card Fronts, Artist Trading Cards (ATCs), Collage Sheets, Pocket Backdrops, or Ephemera Cut-Out Sheets, each pairing creates a completely different look while allowing the featured word to become part of the artwork.

During our Simple Expressions release, purchase any Simple Expressions stamp set and add one qualifying paper goods pack to your order for 40% off. It's the perfect opportunity to experiment with color, layering, and unexpected combinations -- and perhaps discover your own favorite pairing.

Until next time, keep creating with words that matter.

{Card Fronts Spotlight} Creating Bookmarks with Vicki

If you love beautiful, realistic florals and quick crafting, you are going to adore today's spotlight! Our talented designer Vicki Dutcher has been busy in her craft room showing us a clever new way to stretch your stash with our Vintage Roses card fronts.

We love when a product is versatile, and Vicki completely knocked it out of the park by taking one single card front panel and turning it into two gorgeous, functional projects!

Two Gorgeous Bookmarks from One Panel 🌸✨

Who says card fronts are only for card making? Vicki shook things up by proving they make the most incredible bookmarks -- perfect for keeping for yourself or slipping into birthday cards as a sweet, hand-crafted "small gift."

Taking a single 4" x 5.25" Vintage Roses card front panel, Vicki simply cut it in half to create two separate bases. The ultra-realistic imagery of the roses does all the heavy lifting, giving you instant art with zero coloring required.

To finish them off beautifully, she rounded the corners of the panels, punched a hole at the top, and threaded them with silky white ribbon and classic black-and-white bakers twine.

  • The Left Bookmark: Features a gorgeous yellow rose background. For a beautiful focal point, Vicki added a blue vintage-style chipboard tag from her stash featuring the word "DREAM," anchored securely with a black eyelet.

  • The Right Bookmark: Showcases a stunning, velvety pink peach rose. She paired this one with a rich green vintage chipboard tag reading "INSPIRE," also finished with a matching black eyelet.

Aren't you just gobsmacked by how realistic and dimensional those rose images look? They provide the perfect vintage flair for any reading list!
