paper goods showcase | layering paper goods, dies & clear stickers with Vicki Dutcher

One of my favorite things about paper crafting is discovering how different products can work together to create something that's greater than the sum of its parts. Today, STAMPgirl Vicki is sharing two beautiful cards that combine our paper goods, dies, and clear stickers in different ways. Although the styles couldn't be more different, both projects show how layering just a few well-chosen elements can create cards with depth, texture, and personality.

For her first card, Vicki paired the Flowers + Coffee Focal Fronts with the Wonky Stitched Grid Texture Cover Plate Die to create a richly textured background. She finished the design with a sentiment from the All Things Coffee Clear Stickers collection, allowing the oversized coffee cup and colorful florals to remain the stars of the show.

Vicki took a softer, vintage-inspired approach with her second card. She started with one of the card fronts from the Italia collection. She darkened it with ink and used the Circles All Over Texture Cover Plate for texture. The beautiful Blue Blooms ATC becomes the focal point, while the Skinny Sentiments "Celebrate" Die adds a greeting that stands out against the richly layered background. A touch of burlap introduces texture and warmth, proving that even a simple embellishment can completely change the feel of a design.

Creative Takeaway

You don't need a lot of products to create a card with visual impact. Start with a strong focal element -- whether it's a Focal Front, an Artist Trading Card (ATC), or another paper goods piece. Then add one or two supporting elements, like a die-cut sentiment or a clear sticker, to enhance the design without overwhelming it. Sometimes the most memorable cards come from letting each product do what it does best.

If these projects have inspired you, be sure to explore our collection of Paper Goods, CUTplorations Dies, and Clear Stickers in the store. You just might discover your next favorite creative combination.

Happy crafting!

words that matter | COLLECT + Blue Blooms ATCs with Vicki Dutcher

Some words invite us to slow down and appreciate the little things, and collect is one of them. We often think of collections as things we own, but some of life's most valuable collections can't be displayed on a shelf. Moments, memories, friendships, experiences -- these are the things that truly enrich our lives. That's exactly what I had in mind when I designed COLLECT beautiful moments for the Simple Expressions collection.

Vicki's clean and elegant card pairs the COLLECT stamps with our Blue Blooms ATCs in a beautiful way. She arranged three ATCs with postage-style edges into a simple layered focal point, allowing the gorgeous florals and bird imagery to peek out from behind the sentiment without overwhelming the design.

I especially love her decision to stamp only the outline sentiment on vellum and heat-emboss it in gold. The vellum softens the transition between the layers while still allowing the artwork beneath to remain visible, and the gold embossing adds just the right touch of warmth and elegance. The gold sentiment also complements the soft blush pinks and deep navy florals in the ATCs beautifully.

This card is a wonderful reminder that you don't need a complicated design to make an impact. Thoughtful layering, a meaningful sentiment, and beautiful paper goods are sometimes all it takes.

COLLECT is one of 18 stamps in our Simple Expressions collection -- designed to pair beautifully with your favorite paper goods while giving your projects words that matter.

Special Offer: Purchase any Simple Expressions stamp set and get 40% off one qualifying paper goods pack of your choice:

Create boldly. Create meaningfully. Create with words that matter.

Creative Inspiration | Layering with Purpose with Vicki

One of the things I enjoy most about cardmaking is discovering how different products can work together to create something that feels completely cohesive. A beautiful background, a meaningful sentiment, and a well-chosen focal image each play a different role, and when they're thoughtfully combined, the result often looks far more intricate than it actually is.

Today, STAMPgirl Vicki is sharing a lovely card that beautifully illustrates this idea. She paired our Botanical Backgrounds Clear Stickers with the bold typography from our Coffee Feel Good Clear Stickers, then added hand-colored images from our Doodled Coffee & Tea Colorables to complete the design.

I especially like how the soft floral background provides just enough texture without competing with the sentiment or focal images. The coffee mug and French press become the stars of the card, while the bold sentiment ties everything together and gives the design its personality. Each element has its own purpose, yet they work together so naturally that the finished card feels balanced and inviting.

Creative Takeaway

One of the easiest ways to create a polished card is to think in layers rather than techniques. Start with a background that quietly supports your design, add a sentiment that immediately catches the eye, then finish with a focal image that tells the story. Each layer contributes something different, creating depth and interest without making the design feel busy.

Discover What's Possible

Our Clear Stickers are designed to make layering simple and fun. Whether you're combining backgrounds, sentiments, or decorative elements, they work beautifully together while giving you plenty of creative flexibility. Pair them with our Colorables, Paper Goods, stamps, or your favorite coloring medium to create projects that are uniquely your own.

Today's card is a wonderful reminder that beautiful designs don't have to be complicated—sometimes it's simply a matter of choosing elements that work well together.

Happy creating!

Sunday Inspiration: Vintage Mini Masterpieces by Vicki

Happy Sunday, STAMPfriends! Today we are thrilled to share two fabulous vintage-inspired ATCs created by the amazing Vicki. She used our Junk Journal Collage Card Fronts to create the bases for these mini masterpieces, and the results are stunning!

Lights, Camera, Action ATC

Vicki built this piece featuring a retro movie clapperboard from our Nostalgia #1 Ephemera Cut-Outs over a textured orange, red, and black background. She added the perfect finishing touch with the sentiment "lights, camera, action!" using the Nostalgic #1 clear sticker pack.

Vintage Radio ATC

For her second project, she featured a classic radio cut-out over a cool blue and teal background. She added wonderful layered texture at the bottom using our Patches stencil, and finished it off with the fun sentiment "you're not old, you're vintage" from the Nostalgic #1 clear sticker pack. Both ATCs are topped with cute black and white polka dot and solid white ribbons!

{Card Fronts Spotlight} Creating Bookmarks with Vicki

If you love beautiful, realistic florals and quick crafting, you are going to adore today's spotlight! Our talented designer Vicki Dutcher has been busy in her craft room showing us a clever new way to stretch your stash with our Vintage Roses card fronts.

We love when a product is versatile, and Vicki completely knocked it out of the park by taking one single card front panel and turning it into two gorgeous, functional projects!

Two Gorgeous Bookmarks from One Panel 🌸✨

Who says card fronts are only for card making? Vicki shook things up by proving they make the most incredible bookmarks -- perfect for keeping for yourself or slipping into birthday cards as a sweet, hand-crafted "small gift."

Taking a single 4" x 5.25" Vintage Roses card front panel, Vicki simply cut it in half to create two separate bases. The ultra-realistic imagery of the roses does all the heavy lifting, giving you instant art with zero coloring required.

To finish them off beautifully, she rounded the corners of the panels, punched a hole at the top, and threaded them with silky white ribbon and classic black-and-white bakers twine.

  • The Left Bookmark: Features a gorgeous yellow rose background. For a beautiful focal point, Vicki added a blue vintage-style chipboard tag from her stash featuring the word "DREAM," anchored securely with a black eyelet.

  • The Right Bookmark: Showcases a stunning, velvety pink peach rose. She paired this one with a rich green vintage chipboard tag reading "INSPIRE," also finished with a matching black eyelet.

Aren't you just gobsmacked by how realistic and dimensional those rose images look? They provide the perfect vintage flair for any reading list!

Creative Tip of the Day: Personalized Birthday Cards with Die-Cut Negatives

Creative Tip of the Day: Building Dimension with Thin Metal Dies

Hello, crafters! Today we are looking at a project by Vicki that proves you don't need a lot of different mediums to create a card with impact. By using thin metal dies in creative ways, she built a design that is both clean and full of texture.

1. Texturing the Base

Instead of adding a separate panel, Vicki used the Wonky Stitched Grid Texture Plate directly on her card base. This is a fantastic way to add visual interest while keeping the card’s profile slim for mailing.

2. The Triple-Layer Stack

To make her focal elements stand out, Vicki cut her dies multiple times and stacked them:
  • The Spring Flower layering die was cut 3 times in white to create a thick, sturdy frame.
  • She then used a red die-cut to inlay the petals and the center, creating a beautiful contrast.
  • The Thanks word die was also layered 3 times. This "stacking" technique gives die-cuts the look of expensive chipboard and keeps them perfectly flat on the card.
3. Strategic Embellishing

By finishing the card with a few sequins from her stash, Vicki added just the right amount of sparkle to complement the red accents and the textured blue base.
