{Spotlight Project} Shirley's Making Faces
Hi peeps! Have you seen the gorgeous Faces stencils that Shery has created? They're right up my street, and I've been having fun creating a few cards with them.
The first card I made was this one using the Gorgeous stencil:
You'll see that rather than sponging colour through the stencil, I used a black permanent fineliner pen. For the eyelashes, I drew the top line, then once I'd removed the stencil I drew in some lashes. Then I sponged Distress inks, shielded the image area, spritzed and dried the outer area. I added shadows, extra colour and the blusher on her cheeks with a flourish of the paintbrush, and once it was all dry I added highlights with white paint pen.
She looks like she's turning her face to the sun, so I went with a floral/tropical theme. Again, I drew with a fineliner through the stencil, then added flowers from the Bloom And Three Buds stencil. Make up was applied with Distress inks and a paintbrush, white pain highlights on the lips.
Although I drew lines through the stencils, I filled them in this time so that the image was bolder. Shading with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, and Tombow pens for the lips. The dotty stencilling is courtesy of Dots All Over stencil.
Don't forget, you can use stencils either way round. I sponged various Distress inks through the stencil, then sponged colours, also lifting colour through the Oh My Stars stencil. Notice her scrunchy? And the mandala/doilies in the background? They're made with the Bloomdala Bliss Felicity dies.
Well, that's four of the stencils and there are thirteen in the collection! I hope I've given you some inspiration for trying these Face stencils, it really is a great way to create.
I'll be back tomorrow with another use for one of the stencils - see you then! In the meantime, if you're shopping at the store, don't forget to use my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY for 20% off your order.
