It's been awhile since I've created a real mess on my crafting table, so I thought, "Self, what better time than now?" Today's tutorial will show you how to make a collage background and collage pieces.
This time around, I broke out my Scribble Sticks and scratched some colors onto the background.
Scribble Sticks can be used like crayons, but they're really meant to be used with water. So I wet my paintbrush and pulled the colors out to create a soft, shimmery pastel background.
Now that my white space was muddied, I wanted to create a colorful collage background. I chose some printed napkins that had bright pops of color, and that also meshed with the palette I was working in.
I ripped pieces to my liking (which was lots of fun, in itself) and then used some decoupage glue on the card base, plastered the napkin on top, more decoupage glue and a scraper to flatten it all.
After everything was down, I added a little bit of black into the background by stamping randomly with the Artsy Border Maker stamp set.
Since the background was so fun, I decided to bring a little bit of my collage work to the foreground, too! You can decoupage with many different types of thin materials or papers. For my focal image, I used a bunch of old dictionary and book pages and decoupaged on a separate piece of cardstock.
I used the big ol' heart from Funny Kinda Love stamp set and then cut out the image.
I added a little washi tape to a circle, stamped around the edges with the Artsy Border Maker and then added a sentiment from Funny Kinda Love.
I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial. I'd love to see your collage cards! If you use STAMPlorations products, please be sure to link them up in the Neverending Anything Goes Challenge. Oh by the way - also feel free to use my code STAMPGIRLBECCA for 10% off anything in the STAMPlorations store. :)
Now... please excuse me whilst I go clean up some ripped up napkins.
