{Stencil Sunday} Andrea Creates Fabulous Backgrounds with Stencils and a Gel Plate

Hello, again!  It's Andrea back with my last Stencil Sunday feature. I've had so much fun playing with the awesome stencils from STAMPlorations, and I hope you've enjoyed my projects!

For Christmas I received a Gel Press, and I couldn't wait to play with it! All of my projects began the same way. I first applied two colors of acrylic paint to the gel plate, spreading and mixing them with a brayer. Next, I placed a sheet of white cardstock onto the plate and smoothed it with my hands to transfer the paint. I applied a third color of paint to the plate, covered it with a stencil, and then laid down the piece of cardstock a second time.  

Card 1
Merry Go Round Stencil

My first card features the Merry Go Round Stencil, which I just love. It is such a perky, festive design! I paired the stencil with a medium-pink, metallic paint from my stash. I also splattered the background with gold paint for more interest and shine.

After die-cutting my background, I adhered it to a white card with foam tape. I added die-cut and stamped sentiments and finished with a scattering of gold sequins.

Card 2
All Swirls Stencil

For my second card, I used white paint and the All Swirls Stencil. What a fun pattern this stencil creates! I flicked black paint over the background for some drama and depth. I trimmed down the panel, inked up the edges, and adhered it to a white card.

I die-cut my focal sentiment four times - once from blue foil paper and three times from white cardstock - and layered them onto my card. I heat-embossed a companion sentiment and popped it up with foam tape. For the finishing touch, I scattered gems over the panel.

Card 3
Delicate Links Stencil

My final card showcases the gorgeous Delicate Links stencil. I just love the lacy pattern of this stencil! I first paired this stencil with silver metallic paint, but I didn't feel the pattern showed up very well, so I added white paint over it. I splattered the panel with black and silver paints, trimmed it down, and inked the edges. I matted it with black cardstock and adhered it to a white card.

I really love how this background turned out, so I decided to keep the card pretty simple so as not to detract from it. I adhered a snowflake die-cut from blue glitter paper and tied silver string around the card. I finished with a few sequins from my stash.
