{Mixed Media Tutorial} "Beautiful" Art Journal Page by Amy

Good afternoon everyone, Amy here, with an art journal page for my recycled Kids book/Art Journal. A friend got me some new Dylusions Paints in the pastel colors, so I got them out and had a fun play with a couple of them. I hope you enjoy my page. ;o)

I started with a piece of Canson Watercolor paper and used a small blending tool to apply and blend two Dylusions Paint colors together (Periwinkle Blue and Vanilla Custard used here).  I thought it looked like a soft sky background so that's where I went with this page. ;o)

I then applied White Gesso thru the Senecio 1 Stencil with a foam pouncer.

I then taped off a leaf image from the Leaves 1 stencil with painters tape so it would be easier to apply paint to the one image only.

Using a yellow Winsor & Newton pigment marker thru the Leaves 1 Stencil created a "topper" for my "foilage" in the scene I created. I then used White and Black gel pens to outline and doodle my images.

Using a fan brush and diluted black paint, I added some splatters to my page to create some contrast.

I then prepared my converted Kids book page with Heavy Black Gesso. I only do the outsides since the middle will be covered by my pages. ;o)

I used a corner punch to round out the outer edges of my page so it matched the shape of my book/journal and adhered to my journal.

I then felt it needed SOMETHING as it didn't look quite finished to me, so I cut out 4 layers of the Beautiful Word Phrase die from black cardstock and adhered to my page to give it some added dimension.

There we have it....a simple yet "Beautiful" art Journal page.  :o)
