{Spotlight Project} Shirley Creates Quick Color Block Cards

Hello! I've got a couple of quick tricks for you today for adding colour to your images. (Neither of these techniques is new, but it's always worth reminding ourselves and refreshing our skills.) The first one is using the back of a stamp.

I started by stamping the same image in black across the front and back of the card.

Then I used the back of another larger stamp from the set and three different colours to colour the images. I turned the stamp each time so that the colour pattern looked more random.

I added a sentiment and called it done.

My second technique is one of my faves - sloshing watercolours around! The card started off similar to the first. Stamping all the way across the card, but this time using three different stamps.

Using the same range of colours, I loaded up my brushes and sloshed colour on very loosely.

You'll see from the central image on the front of the card that I was a little too enthusiastic with my flourish, but hey, this is art ;) I added a sentiment and lots of splattering and called that one done.

I hope I've jogged your memory with these techniques, or maybe even introduced you to a new one. When you're shopping in the store, if you use my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY you can get 20% off. Happy stamping!

  1. Thank you for reminding us of this fun technique. I think I've only used it once, but now I'm eager to give it another try.

  2. I can't seem to enter the July giveaway link today. It keeps giving me a message that the entry didn't go through, and to try again. Have cleared my cache and tried on two different browsers. Anyone else having that problem?

    1. Karen, can you try again and let me know if it happens again? Best if you can email me a screenshot. My giveaways are hosted through Rafflecopter so I have no control over them except for setting the start/end dates, specifying options, and putting in the prize(s). So if you email me a screenshot, I can try contacting them and showing the screenshot to see if they can trace where the problem is.

    2. Hi Shery,
Couldn't take a screenshot but it finally started working after midnight. No idea why it started and then stopped. Internet gremlins I suppose! Thank you for trying to help though.
