{Spotlight Project} Shirley's Inspired by Pop Art

Hi, guys! Got your sunglasses at the ready? Today I'm inspired by Pop Art. I'm intrigued by how bright blocks of colour are used to represent shape and form, light and shade, without the use of grey or black. When you actually look at shadows, they're not grey or black anyway but darker shades of complementary colours.

So here's the pop art that inspired my card:

{Spotlight Project} Shirley's Inspired by Friedensreich Hundertwasser - Take Three

It's me again. And it's that man again! Today I'm inspired by Hundertwasser's application of his art into architecture. In his Mouldiness Manifesto (!) he claimed the "Window Right":

"A person in a rented apartment must be able to lean out of his window and scrape off the masonry within arm's reach. And he must be allowed to take a long brush and paint everything outside within arm's reach. So that it will be visible from afar to everyone in the street that someone lives there who is different from the imprisoned, enslaved, standardised man who lives next door." [Source: Wikipedia]

I haven't dared read his Nude Speech...

I built a little street of houses using The Bee's Knees: Houses set and I took a long brush and painted some of the masonry around the windows in the style of the Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna. I can't get enough of the Hashtag Authentic set, and I thought the words were quite appropriate.

{Inspiration Project Post #1} Cards about love, shoes, and you... + an invitation to the Inspiration CASE Playground

Hey there, STAMPlorations friends! Today we're introducing a brand new regular feature here on the blog: the Inspiration Project posts! On the 2nd and 4th Mondays and Fridays of each month, the Inspiration Design Team will be sharing projects that not only will inspire you but will also encourage you to CASE!

You'll recall that on February 1, we introduced CASEplorations, the super fun concept thought up by STAMPlorations girl Maria F. (whose middle name is "Trendy Chic"). It was Monika who came up with the name for Maria's concept. It's where we CASE a project and show you how we do it. Long story short, CASEplorations nicely ties in with the Inspiration Project posts because one of the things we'd love for you to do is CASE the projects we share and link it up to the gallery, which we're calling the Inspiration CASE Playground. The Playground is open until the 5th of the following month...which means you always have plenty of time to CASE and link up as many projects as you can.

{Spotlight Project} Shery Makes A One Layer Card Using A Creative Stenciling Technique

Hey there, STAMPlorations friends! I'm here with my first spotlight project post for the year :o). At the risk of sounding predictable, I've got a one layer card to share. I used a fun and creative stenciling technique -- one of my favorite techniques. You can see my card below -- it's pretty CAS but with a little bit of mixed media thrown in.

As a crafter, my favorite places to shop for supplies are home improvement stores like Lowe's and The Home Depot. They're my go-to places when I need to make my own wood and hardwood panels (they're cheaper and you can make any size you want!) and they're a treasure trove for mixed media supplies. In fact, I buy three of my favorite "art supplies" -- painter's tape, drywall tape, and sponge for inking -- from these places.

And so with some stamps (Sugar Rush and Hashtag Authentic), stencil (Bold Florals), inks, painter's tape, and drywall tape, here's how I made my card.

{Spotlight Project} Vicki Goes Reflective

I made a card here awhile back. I had more then one person ask me how I did it. Well, I am here to show you today how to make a reflective image. It's so easy you'll think, Duh!

Here is the finished card:

I used the newly released STAMPlorations set, Bold Sentiments: Hashtag Authentic. [I am loving this set for sure!]

Okay, to create the reflective look, here are the steps:
