{Spotlight Project} Shirley Creates a Watercolour Panel with Blossom Overture

I was looking at the different images in the February/March Stamp Club set, Blossom Overture, and decided I wanted to create a climbing image with the morning glory stamp:

I grabbed the nearest piece of mixed media paper and stamped the image with Old Paper Distress ink, which I picked up by mistake. I normally use Antique Linen but Old Paper was ok because I was using a floral image.

I stamped the image at the top centre, masked most of it off except the very bottom of the image, then stamped the second image underneath, lining it up, and repeated for the third image.

I used watercolour paints to colour the image, lifting colour off and dropping colour in while it was still wet.

Added more colours and splatters (of course!).

Then with Distress markers, I added back in some of the detail and created some shading, particularly on the wooden stem that the morning glory is climbing up.

The panel wasn't the right shape for a card and I didn't want to trim it down, so I looked around for what else I could use and spied some canvas boards in my stash, just the right size. I scribbled some Neocolour II crayons around the edges then took a wet brush and spread the colours. Once it was all dry I added some stamping using the music stamp from Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds and Versafine Smoky Grey. Here's a close-up of the finished project:
