{Spotlight Project} Maria Creates with a Stencil and Spray Inks

Welcome to my Spotlight post about creating with a stencil and spray inks. Have you seen our stencil hop going on right now? Well, I decided to pull out some fun colors of Dylusions spray inks and use them with a stencil to create two cards, one light and airy, one bold and beautiful. Meet bold and beautiful.

STEP 1
I gathered some yellow, pink and purple Dylusions inks. I actually only used four of those pictured. Cut two 4x8 panels of watercolor paper. Put down my Flutterby stencil on one piece and sprayed some inks onto it.

STEP 2
I waited a couple seconds to let the ink soak into the paper, then carefully removed the stencil, flipped it over and onto the second panel of watercolor paper, using it like a stamp. See this on the left? I put a piece of scrap paper on top and applied a little pressure. TIP: I spritzed both pieces with a little water before I started. The watercolor paper then absorbs the ink better.

STEP 3
I left the stencil on the second panel to absorb and revisited the first panel. Spritzed it with Perfect Pearls/water mix. Could have left it this way, but...

I spritzed it again to soften it up even more!

STEP 4
Thrifty as I am, I spritzed the stencil with water and "stamped" it one more time in my handy, dandy stamping-off notebook (lower left). You'd be amazed at how much ink is still left on the stencil. And at how often these pages come in handy for projects.

STEP 5
Back to the second panel. Spritzed it a couple times with Perfect Pearls/water and let it dry. I even used my handy, dandy "loo roll" to mop up the drips. Hmm, wonder where those will turn up?

STEP 6
When dry I applied white structure paste through Happy Flowers and sprinkled some yellow glitter onto it while it was still wet.

STEP 7
Finished off the card by curling the lower edge and adhering only the top third to my cardbase. Added a strip of washi up top and a heat embossed sentiment from Blossom Overture. Looking for the "loo roll" ?

I die cut two butterflies from it and from vellum, layered them and embellished my card with them!

So if you haven't seen our ARTplorations Stencil Blog Hop happening this week, check it out here. Watch tomorrow's post for the final version of this card's twin ;)
