{Spotlight Project} CityGirl Scoots Into Town

As soon as I saw Born to Roam, the new premium stamp club set, I wanted to make a little scenic background card using a row of scooters and CityGirl:

I started by stamping the scooter onto scrap paper twice and fussy cutting them for masks. Then I stamped and masked until I had three scooters in a row. For the second and third scooter I stamped off first so that I got paler impressions.

I masked off everything but the lower portion of the card, then sponged Hickory Smoke Distress Inks over to create a road. On the top portion of the card I masked off for the grass and the sky. I used the Eiffel Tower stamp from Word Birthday Cakes, inking it in various Distress Inks, and spritzing lightly.

I watercoloured the scooters with Distress Inks but it wasn't very coherent at this stage, it all needed tying together, so I repeat-stamped the text from CityGirl in Antique Linen over the whole thing, then sponged around the edges. Still not happy with it, I got the ARTplorations Dots All Over stencil and sponged Aged Mahogany dots over some areas. I adhered the panel onto the base card then added a fussy-cut CityGirl and a sentiment.

Here's another look at the finished card:
